In the latest update to RaceRoom Racing Experience, experimental support for the Oculus Rift has been added. Videos have also started popping up on YouTube, taking a look at how the Rift works in RaceRoom Racing Experience, and it looks pretty solid so far!
I have found two noteworthy videos so far, one from Betta Lines and the other from M M. The video from Betta Lines gives us an overview of the system, as well as how to enable it for people to test for themselves in RaceRoom. For more info, check out the notes below (taken from Betta Lines’ video info).
So far, for an early implementation, it is looking pretty good! Gives you even more of an appreciation for the modelling done by Sector3, and what they have accomplished in RaceRoom Racing Experience. If you want to give it a try for yourself, and you have the Oculus Rift, you have to go to R3E’s properties in Steam, and you add “-vr” to the Launch Settings. NOTE: You may have to ensure the headset is your primary display, and that you have selected 1920×1080@75Hz in the video options. Turn off Motion Blur as it currently causes problems. As always, it is essential to maintain 75fps, so you may have to turn down other graphics settings.
If you have the Oculus Rift, have you tried it in any racing sims? Are you planning on getting the VR Headset when it releases? Let us know!
