Hardware Highlight: DIY Pro Grade Motion Rig

These videos were brought to our attention in our forums, thanks to member tonicgr:

Have you ever wanted to build your own motion rig? Well, apparently some people have built their own 6 Degrees of Freedom motion sim platforms, utilizing Thanos’ circuit boards and ideas. The results are nothing short of spectacular, in a fashion which I believe rivals professional setups, such as the Red Bull F1 Simulator. Check out the videos below for yourself!

Note, that a DIY motion cockpit is NOT for the faint of heart, or light of wallet. To build a setup like this, you likely are going to have to plunk down a lot of dough. However, it is reasonably priced for what it is, tipping the scales at under $5,000. This project would also require some advanced technical know-how, due to the complexity of motion rigs.

I will say that these motion cockpits look like a blast to drive! It also is an awesome sight, seeing all of those industrial motors working together to create a more authentic sim racing experience. I find it interesting how they even had the foresight to have a kill switch, just to be on the safe side. It’s always cool to see people developing their own DIY solutions to fit their racing preferences.
