It has been a while since a new track release, at least in RaceRoom world. Sector3 Studios is now back with another announcement – the Malaysian Sepang International Circuit is coming to RaceRoom. Best of all, it seems to be very far along already.
Sepang – a brief introduction
The Sepang International Circuit opened its gates in 1999 and has since then been a very well-known name in motorsport. Formula 1 races there and even MotoGP too.
In total, it is 5.54 km long, features two massive straights and is located roughly 50 km away from Kuala Lumpur, the capital of Malaysia.
It was also at Sepang, where Marco Simoncelli tragically lost his life, following an accident in the second lap of the 2011 MotoGP Grand Prix in Malaysia.
The virtual recreation of the circuit is again a result of Sector3’s good relationship with Hermann Tilke, one of the track’s architects, who also made RaceRoom’s version of Chang International Circuit possible.
The track will be part of a competition hosted by RaceRoom Malaysia. The twenty best drivers will have the chance to win tickets for the upcoming F1 Grand Prix in a multiplayer race, taking place on September 29.
And a certain Finish F1 driver – no, not Kimi Räikkönen – also had a go at Sector3 Studios’ latest creation.
