RaceRoom – Anderstorp Raceway Teased

Sector3 Studios cannot stop announcing and releasing content, at least in the last couple of weeks. Silverstone, Mantorp Park Formula RaceRoom US, the KTM X-Bow GT4, the Volvo S60 Polestar, the BMW M6 GT3 might be closer than we think and now the studio has announced that yet another Swedish track will join RaceRoom’s array of content, Anderstorp Raceway.

More Swedish tracks were already hinted in an interview a couple of weeks ago and Sector3 certainly kept their promise.

History

The Scandinavian Raceway, now Anderstorp Raceway, located in the Anderstorp, in the south of Sweden, is a track with quite a history.

Not only was it part of schedule of various touring car and motorcycling championships, but it also hosted six F1 Grand Prix’s in the seventies. The track’s involvement in F1 sadly came to a tragic end with the death of Gunnar Nilsson during the 1978 Grand Prix.

Layout

The track is 4.03 km (2.505 miles) long and has eight turns in total, which makes Anderstorp a short and sweet experience. The lap record is 1:21.525 minutes and the track is made up of mostly long turns and an even longer back straight.

In RaceRoom, there will be two Layouts. The Grand Prix Layout, being the full circuit and the South Layout, which is basically the GP layout cut in half.

Release

There has been no word on a possible release date yet, but on the images the track looks very good already, we will know more #soon.

Also, after being asked if we could expect more teasers in the near future, Sector3’s Georg Ortner replied: “Yes. Very soon! ;)”.

So, although we already have a lot, there is even more to look forward too.

Some impressions of the track itself and even some racing action are attached below.
