Ford GT LM GTE-PRO coming to iRacing

As you may remember, a couple of months ago, iRacing announced that it had licensed the Ferrari 488 GTE and that it was in development. Now, in a short statement on Twitter, Tony Gardner announced that the Ferrari will not come alone – The Ford GT LM GTE-PRO is on its way as well! Both cars might already be released together with the new iRacing build in June!

The car

Most likely, you are already familiar with the car, since it is already available in Forza Motorsport and Project CARS 2 will include the American GTE racer as well. The Ford GT LM GTE-PRO marked Ford’s victorious return to the 24 Heures du Mans (Le Mans) race and was therefore able to live up to its immense racing pedigree.

When is it coming then?

iRacing is not so sure itself either. From iRacing’s side both cars, the Ford and the Ferrari, are completed. The determining factor is the manufacturer approval, to which both cars have already been submitted. But it varies how long manufacturers need for approving the cars, either days or weeks. Should there be something wrong with the cars, then that would of course require some extra time as well.

Yet, iRacing hopes to have one or even both cars ready in time for the iRacing Le Mans race on June 10. Should that be the case, then the already available Ford GT2 car will be removed from the grid.

As for the official series, iRacing plans on removing all the GT3 cars, except for the Porsche, from the IMSA series and will add the two new GTE cars instead.

Since iRacing is not allowed to publish any images of the cars before their approval, you can find the Ford in some other games below.
