Perhaps the most famous auto brand in the world, Ferrari have joined forces with iRacing and together the two companies have announced their new partnership to the sim racing world. To kick things off, the team at iRacing will release the Ferrari 488 GTE model as it appeared in the ACO (Automobile Club de l’Ouest) 2016 Le Mans 24 Hours endurance race, the FIA World Endurance Championship and the IMSA (International Motor Sports Association) Weathertech SportsCar Championship. With this new partnership, it will be very interesting to see just which other Ferrari racing cars may be making their way to iRacing’s circuits. Which Ferraris would you like to see in the title? The Prancing Horse logo famously inspires passion among racing and automotive aficionados everywhere. iRacers are also passionate about online racing and I have no doubt they will be thrilled at the prospects of racing the 488 GTE and other Ferraris in the future.
The 2016 Ferarri 488 GTE replaces the Ferrari 458 GTE one of the most winning racing cars to emerge from the Maranello factory in central Italy. The all new 3.9-liter twin-turbo V8 of the 488 GTE replaced the 4.5-liter atmospheric V8 in the road-going version and is now carried over to the race track as well. The engine pumps out 490 BHP, which is transferred to the rear wheels via a Transversel 6 speed sequential gearbox.
