The F1 2018 announcement is not even two weeks old and we are already getting the first glimpse of how the final product will look. Providing the gameplay is none other than Alfa Romeo Sauber F1’s Charles Leclerc!
Let’s Hear Some Background Info
Whilst watching (and enjoying) the gameplay is one thing, it is hard to spot the differences – apart from the halo obviously – in the whole picture if you do not know what to look for.
Codemasters’ Stuart Campbell, F1 2018 Art Director, emphasised the “revised lighting, sky, clouds and atmospherics systems”, “affecting all aspects of rendering”. Now, new clouds might not sound all that exciting, but according to Campbell they especially shine together with the weather system, allowing for better response to the light and therefore “some stunning vistas”
Something that cannot really be spotted in the trailer but definitely should not go without mention is the new player-adjustable Energy Recovery System (ERS), adding another element of realism to the F1 series.
Charles Leclerc’s Thoughts
I love playing the F1 game! As soon as I get out of the car, I miss racing. So, when I am back home, I play for fun. This is the closest I can get to driving a Formula 1® car outside of the track, so it is always very enjoyable to play.
First of all, I was amazed at how realistic the scenery was. Being born in Monaco, I know the circuit very well. Well done for visualising the track so nicely in the game. My favourite part is the last sector because there is a great rhythm to the drive there.
