Codemasters Announce F12017 Release Date – August 25th 2017

Well it’s been announced by Codemasters that F12017 will be released on the 25th August 2017! This official release of the FIA F1 World Championship will include a more in-depth career mode, a “new” style Championship Mode and an upgraded multiplayer experience. Best of all we will be getting numerous classic F1 cars of yesteryear. The game will be released on PS4, Xbox One and PC, this will include a DVD version and steam. Also more good news is this will be a “worldwide” release!

So far we have been notified of some classic F1 cars which will be included in F12017. The 1988 McLaren MP4/4 as driven to much success by Ayrton Senna and Alain Prost, winning 15 out of 16 races that year.

The  1992 Williams FW14B driven by Nigel “Red 5” Mansell and Riccardo Patrese. This car was highly innovative at the time using all the mod cons of F1, Traction Control, ABS, Active Ride Suspension which made this car the most sophisticated of this era.

Finally we have notification of the 2002 Ferrari  F2002 as driven by 7 times world champion Michael Schumacher and Rubens Barrichello, which was without question Ferrari’s most dominant cars.

There will be other classic F1 cars and we will be informed of these nearer the time, lots to look forward to.

Game Director Paul Jeal and Creative Director Lee Mather said:

Due to the success of F12016 we can not wait to let you all experience the excellence of F12017, and we are pleased to announce the return of the classic cars. We will bring you 12 of these amazing vehicles which was a hard decision to shortlist, as there are so many to choose from.

The last time we had classic cars in the franchise was F12013, so overall there is almost a 30 year span to choose the final 12, I am sure we all have our own favourites.

For the first time ever the classic cars are an integral part of the career mode. You will have invitational events to drive modern and classic cars during your season. Along with that Codemasters are doing their best to add variety to the  game by including some alternative circuit layouts and new game play modes.

As we are still in the infancy of the current FIA F1 season, there will be plenty to look forward to, with Mercedes and Ferrari battling head to head and upcoming drivers like Max Verstappen, the games performance modelling of the teams/drivers will be exciting to say the least. A great favourite of mine is to try and take a mid field car and get though to Q3 in qualifying – I challenge you to get the McLaren MCL32 past Q1! Lets hope they improve in the real world before the game is complete.

Additionally if you pre-order the day one release of F12017 you will have early access to the 1988 McLaren MP4/4 as part of the special edition version. The McLaren MP4/4 will be available at a later date to purchase and the remaining classic cars are available in all versions of the game. If you have sweaty palms you can head over to the F12017 page on steam and pre-order right away.

Mark your diaries – 25th August 2017.
