On June 17th, Kunos Simulazioni broke the news that they had secured the Porsche license for their poular sim racing title, we have now learnt that Assetto Corsa will ultimately have three Porsche DLC packs! Originally planned for release later this year, we were expecting two separate DLC packs, comprising a total of 20 cars. Things develop quickly in sim racing land and in the summer special developer stream, ”Look What The Cat Hacked In” Marco Massarutto, Executive and Licensing Manager at Kunos Simulazioni Studios, stated there would be not one, not two, but three Porsche DLC packs released with a total of 24 gleaming Porsches for us to take to our favourite Assetto Corsa circuits!
Included in Marco’s statement was the fact that three of these 24 cars will be free DLC. Call it an early Chrissy present for all loyal fans and devotees of the famous German car maker!
To refresh your memories, here is the Porsche reveal trailer once again:
Until now, only four cars of the total 24 scheduled for release have been revealed, the list as it is now reads like this, the 935/78 ‘Moby Dick’, 911 Carrera RSR 3.0, 917/30, and the Panamera. Marco has added two more models to this list by revealing that the Le Mans conquering LMP1 cars from 2015 and 2016 will be joining the paid DLC packs.
Marco had this to say about Porsche and its involvement with Kunos Simulazioni:
“This Fall, Assetto Corsa will be the only multi-platform title to have the Porsche brand in a genuine racing simulation,” and added, “We are working closely with Porsche with the aim to reproduce each single model with the maximum accuracy.”
Marco’s quote was quite revealing at the time, hinting at driver-selectable features which will be faithfully reproduced in-game, and as it stands, giving the Porsches more unique driver involvement. Additionally, Marco announced a first for Assetto Corsa in the form of a Season Pass, possessing this pass will afford its owner a discounted price for the DLC pack.
At the time of writing, there has been no official word on just what all this Porsche goodness will cost. We can expect the first Porsche DLC pack to hit the Steam store in late September and it will be available for PC and consoles!
