McLaren-Honda Partners With Logitech in “Multi-Year Agreement”

Just before its poor start into the 2017 F1 season, McLaren-Honda announced that Logitech, who we know and love for producing the iconic G25 and G27 wheels, is now their new Official Technology Peripherals Partner.

Here is what Logitech and McLaren have to say on the matter:

Bracken Darrell, President and CEO of Logitech

This collaboration was built on traits that Logitech and McLaren-Honda share: technological innovation that help people achieve more, and passion for what we do

We couldn’t be more thrilled to work with such an iconic team, and in doing so expose millions of Formula 1 fans to our Logitech and Logitech G brands. And you never know what the future might bring …

Zak Brown, Executive Director of McLaren Technology Group

We’re delighted to have such an important brand in the consumer technology sector be a part of our team. McLaren-Honda is a team synonymous with innovation and the relentless pursuit of technological evolution, and Logitech shares this ethos and hunger for development to enhances the way we go about our daily lives – whether personally or professionally –  to be more productive and more rewarding.

Together, we are already working on exciting plans for the future of our work together and there is plenty to come from both McLaren-Honda and Logitech in our mutual offering for our fans and stakeholders alike.

The possible outcomes

As the two statements don’t reveal too much on products that might result from the partnership, there is some room for speculation.

One possible outcome could be a McLaren branded answer to Thrustmaster’s TS-PC Racer wheel, in form of a mid to high-end wheelbase with an McLaren-Honda F1 style rim.

Another possibility could be a successor to the G29 and G920, which couldn’t quite keep up with the competition in certain aspects.

Maybe a sim racing oriented gaming peripheral model range could also be on its way, possibly including one of the wheels above.

This most definitely is a very interesting partnership and we can only look forward to what is in the works.
