You are probably thinking that this is just another concept car – one of many – coming to Gran Turismo Sport, and some might wonder why they should care. Well, turns out that this one actually works and not only that, at this year’s Formula E races and many other events, it will function as a race taxi!
So, What’s it Capable Of?
First of all, it is electric, which already promises enormous performance figures, and, they are met. Three electric motors, each producing 200 kw (200 kw * 3 = 600 kw; roughly 815 hp) power a permanent four-wheel drive system, capable of catapulting the e-tron Vision Gran Turismo from 0 to 100 km/h in under 2.5 seconds.
Also responsible for this rather blistering acceleration is the weight of 1,450 kilograms, giving it a power to weight ratio of roughly 562 horsepower per tonne.
Audi says that “customers and guests of the brand with the four rings will be able to experience Formula E’s city circuits as passengers in the Audi e-tron Vision Gran Turismo starting at the race in Rome (April 14)”. This is a rather vague statement and can be interpreted in different ways, but fact of the matter is that the car will be present and will be piloted by either Swiss ex-DTM driver Rahel Frey or Italian Le Mans winner Dindo Capello.
And of course, the car will be coming to Gran Turismo Sport!
