MCUSA 7 Report post Posted December 6, 2012 Hi everyone, I am an avid sim racer that currently races open wheel for Racing Teams SCART as well as FBR's IndyCar series. I love using my Logitech G27 pedals except for the fact that these cars have converted me to a left foot braker. With size 13 feet the gas and brake pedals are too close for comfort for the long races that I run. I was wondering if someone could please tell me if it is possible to take a Nixim/GT-Eye brake spring mod or similar and use that to make the clutch pedal stiffer so I could use it as a brake instead? The only thing close that I can find is the PlaySeat Big Brake Pedal which would also be a solution except for the fact that it is hardly ever available on their website and leaves you having to use a button for a clutch since it connects the brake and clutch pedals together. Thank you very much, Marc
Matt B 0 Report post Posted December 6, 2012 Hi MCUSA. I'm pretty sure all 3 pedal mechanisms in the Logitech pedals are identical so the Nixim spring can be used on the clutch without any issues. I have just bought the Nixim mod for the same reason as you and I too was contemplating getting the PlaySeat Big Brake Pedal but it just seems a little too expensive (especially when adding in the shipping) for what it is. Cheers! Matt
Tdk24 2 Report post Posted December 6, 2012 If you're going to open the pedals to mod them and void your warranty, if it's still under warranty, do you have the ability to leave them out of the plastic houseing and hard mount them to a board or something? That way, you can space them as far apart as you need and still keep all 3 pedals. You can search around in the Rigs/cockpits area for lots of ideas on how to do this. It's probably something i'll end up doing as well, i wear size 12 wide.
MCUSA 7 Report post Posted December 6, 2012 Thanks Matt for your response. Also to Tdk24, great suggestion as I have considered this option but unfortunately I do not have a place to hard mount them and would also prefer keeping them in the housing for portability reasons. Tdk24 2 Report post Posted December 7, 2012 How about moving the pedal plates around. Move the gas to the right then move the brake and clutch to the left. I haven't tried but I think you can move them.
MCUSA 7 Report post Posted December 7, 2012 Ahh I just looked here and that is another option (http://www.simhq.com/_technology2/technology_153b.html). I'll give it a try when I can and see how it goes! Thanks for the tip!

Thank you very much, Marc dude you can open em up and swap em around, its very simple, just be careful not to crush any wires when putting it all back together
