Notes for the drivers

  • All drivers must be in the server with fifteen minutes to go until the qualifying session (0215GMT), unless you have made prior arrangement. You risk losing your spot to a reserve if you are in Div2 or to a Div2 driver if you are in Div1. Once you are in the server, please try to stay there as much as possible for easier monitoring of attendance.
  • This track is flat and very technical, with many turns of varying entry speeds, radii, and direction changes, which means there are many opportunities to create contact by misjudging braking points and re-entering the track after an off. Be aware of other drivers braking points and adjust yours accordingly.
  • On the opening lap, the natural funnel points will be at T1, T4 and T6, be extra vigilant.
  • Remember you will have cold brakes and unoptomised tyres on the opening laps, so drive accordingly!
  • You are not expected to wait for another driver should you be at fault in an incident. However, should you choose to wait (to avoid being reported post-race) then do so in a safe position and within a lap of the incident. Accidents caused by drivers waiting in dangerous areas will be penalised severely.
  • The staff will investigate all lap one incidents and any observed on the live broadcast - but aside from that, any incident needs to be reported within 72 hours for the staff to be able to review it - it is also fair to say that lap one incidents will be dealt harsher penalties then those during other parts of the race due to the potential for damage involved.

Rolling Start Details

  • Excessive weaving, hard braking, hard acceleration and general tyre warming behaviour is not allowed in ATCC.
  • Anybody who spins out during the formation lap will be able to resume their position but must be extremely cautious while moving back through the field, flashing their lights if necessary. This is the only time excessive flashing of lights may be used.
  • Drivers proceed two-by-two, with no overtaking.
  • Your speed may not exceed 105kph/65mph during the formation lap.
  • All drivers must maintain this speed until the pole sitter comes to the Starting Line, at which point he may begin accelerating.
  • Drivers must wait for the leader to cross the Starting line before starting to race. (Drivers do not have to wait to cross the Starting Line themselves before accelerating and racing.)
  • The formation lap is part of the in-game race distance.


Track Boundaries

Track boundaries at Hungaroring are the default TouringProSeries rules, which can be read via the link above, article 6.3.

Curbing is indicated by the red and white textures.

 

Pit Entry/Exit

When entering the pits, you must not cut across the pit entry line, you must keep all four wheels inside the entry line at all times.

When exiting the pits, you must keep in the pit exit marked out until it ends, with all four wheels.

As ever, those not pitting may use these areas freely, but have to give priority to any drivers using this area for pitting purposes.

Drivers will be allowed to turn their headlights on (during the final sector) to warn those behind of their intention to pit, this is the ONLY exception to our headlights rule. Make sure to turn them off again before exiting the pits.

Round 2: Div 1, Race 1
(Laps are referenced to in-game lap, i.e., Lap 1 is formation lap, Lap 2 is 1st lap of race, etc.)


  • Driver: Simon Kilov
    Penalty: 2 points
    Time: Start
    Reason: Jumped the start.

    Explanation: Kilov is accelerating before the pole sitter has crossed the Start Line. Drivers are reminded that you may not start racing until the leaders have crossed the Start/Finish line.

Penalty: 5 points, 1 endorsement
Time: Start of Race, Lap 2 (T=271)
Reason: Contact with Duarte Lopes

Explanation: There is some side to side contact in the mid-pack ahead and Lopes takes some minor evasive action, barely slowing his pace. Perreira continues full throttle with no where to go but into the back of Duarte. Totally unnecessary starting lap incident that again cost Lopes any chance at a high finish, when drivers should be allowing for cold brakes and tires, and expecting the unexpected.

Explanation: Bass is charging up the inside, in the pit lane (which is OK), but he brakes too late entering the Andretti Hairpin and gets into the back of Sorensen costing him a couple of positions.

Reason: Contact with Perreira

Explanation: Gonçalves brakes too late at the final corner of the first lap of the race and makes contact with Raul sending him sideways, losing two positions, and collecting Borges as well.

Time: End of Lap 2 (T=358)
Reason: Contact with Gardiner

Explanation: Nelson brakes too late at the final corner of the first lap of the race and makes contact with Rhys, sending him off as he was trying to avoid the incident ahead. Eric safely lets the field go by on the main straight as he allows Rhys to catch up and go by, thereby reducing the penalty and avoiding an endorsement.

Reason: Contact with Perreira

Explanation: Barrick has fought his way back and catches Perreira and punts him off going into Andretti Hairpin. Looks like payback, but that's a no-go for TPS.

    Explanation: Keithley starts to go to the outside after T1 but there isn't room to squeeze in between car in front and Lopes. Jack hits Diogo's left rear and sends him off, dropping him a couple of positions.

Explanation: Sheperd goes up the inside following T1 and hits the back of Gonçalves sending him sideways down the pit lane, losing six positions.

Explanation: Jundt has just been involved in an incident and is turned around at the top of The Corkscrew. Isles slows to enter The Corkscrew and upon encountering Jundt in front of him, proceeds to accelerate into Jundt, nearly flipping his car.

    Time: Lap 1 (T=114)
    Reason: Causing an opening lap pileup.

    Explanation: Åcerclinth goes around the inside of Andretti Hairpin on the opening lap and turns in on Vendevelde and Navarro getting himself turned around, as cars come pouring into the turn. Jonatan did not leave room for the cars already under full braking, with no where else to go but into him and each other. This incident involved eight other drivers, earning him a double penalty.

Driver: Ivan Navarro
Penalty: 3 points
Time: Lap 1 (T=149)
Reason: Contact with Søvik.

Explanation: Navarro hits Søvik entering T5 turning him around and severely damaging his car, ultimately ending his race. Ivan waits for Scott and when he sees he ESC'd out resumed in last place, thus avoiding a point on his license.

One of the most important principles in the Touring Pro Series is attendance. If a driver signs up, he is expected to attend all races in that championship.

However, the management realise that real life can get in the way, all we ask is that this is reported as far in advance as possible, as a form of courtesy should there be any replacement drivers waiting.

Absence must be reported at the very latest by 23:59GMT of the day before an event:

  • If you post after the deadline, then you will have one strike against your name - three late reports in this manner (after the deadline but prior to the first official session of the race event) will result in removal from the league.
  • If you post after the event has been started (within 48 hours of the beginning of the first qualifying) then you will only have two chances during the season before you will be removed from the league (report like that counts as "double strike").
  • A single failure to report absence after the 48 hour deadline will result in removal from the league.

Current Division Allocation Server allocations no longer include special rules for rounds 1 and 2 based on prequalification. Server allocation will now be set only by the championship standings - the top 24 drivers in the overall championship prior to an event will compete in Division One for that event. In case of absence, drivers will move up in championship order from Division Two to Division One. In event of a tie of points (drivers on minus points are classed as equivalent to 0), PreQualification results, then a driver's best result will be used. If there is a still a tie, the date of sign-up will be the final deciding factor. If your name appears in the allocation below, you are expected to show up for the race. If you cannot race you must sign-out in the Absence Report Thread HERE at least by midnight GMT on the day before the race. If you don't see your name on the list below and you are signed up, let me know via PM. If you wish to sign-up, please follow thin instructions in the Sign-Up Thread. Sign-up Thread will remain open for the foreseeable future.

As penalties notifications are also sent by email, I sometimes get messages like these:

 

The penalty is: Disqualification.

 

 

Yeah, right. Is that a bug? Always saying "DSQ" as the awarded penalty.

 

Btw: I am still trying to get the best feel for the FFB. What are you guys using? This game has FFB effects for several situations(steering, kerbs, etc.) and I am not sure what gives a rather good feeling of the car.

Remember TPS rules require two wheels within the white/yellow lines, EXCEPT when there is extra astroturf/concrete beyond the curbing (in which case 6.3.2 applies).

 

 

 

6.3.1 You may use all of the available tarmac and kerbs and in some cases (which will be
detailed in the race briefing) extra astroturf/concrete beyond the kerbing. The overriding
rule is that some part of two wheels must be within the outer edge of the white or yellow
lines, that define the edge of the track, at all times. If this is the case, then the position of
the car is always legal, no matter the position of the other two wheels.

 

6.3.2 However, where there is kerbing/astroturf/concrete which you may use (which will be
described in the race briefing often with attached screenshots), two wheels do not have
to be within the outer edge of the white lines in this instance. However, in the case of this
extra kerbing/astroturf/concrete, you may not run the full part of any of your wheels
beyond those designated areas.
