Thanks very much! It was certainly quite a labour of love...took 9 months of my life, but worth it I reckon :D . I do still prefer to play games on my eyefinity setup rather than the 10ft projection screen though. The extra peripheral info you get with eyefinity is just not achievable even on a huge single display.

Hey everyone!

People know me as SakuyaFM, but my name is John Ber.

I currently reside in Temecula, CA

I'm currently 21, turning 22 in a couple of weeks 8Db

I'm still pretty new to the bigger Sim Racing scene, my first game being Infogrammes V-Rally. I had to play this with a keyboard because I was not that interested in it, nor did I think I'd have the funds to buy a wheel. I've been trying to get into sim racing, but couldn't really do so until now.

Rally is definitely my favorite discipline. I just love sliding through those hairpins, and making it look easy (when we all know it's just HARD). I'm currently playing GRID, and recently purchased DiRT 2 on Steam. I'm trying to branch out more into the "more realistic" sims out there, rFactor being one of them (currently downloading what I think is the trial for it). For now, I'm playing with my X360 controller, but I'm hoping to get a Logitech Driving Force GT this week.

Hello all! My name is Anthony W. and I am from New Jersey. I am 27 years old and am just discovering the world of online and simulated racing. When I am not building my start up website I am usually reading books and figuring out who to modify my Acura. Right now I play Need For Speed: Hot Pursuit w/ a Radica Gamester Race Pac (Hey for 30 bucks at the time who can complain). I have it linked with XBCD drivers and love it. You can get a hold of me via steam, http://steamcommunity.com/id/oneofthosed3afmutes. You can also get a hold of me via my EA gamer tag which is, fumanchu183 (http://hotpursuit.needforspeed.com/auto ... umanchu182).

To give you some additional information I am a gear head by heart and actually built my first drag racer. This is my first attempt at doing a paint job on a bumper (Trashed the bumper after lowering the car two inches.):

2210732210071231766S425x425Q85.jpg

This was the engine setup (2.5 swapped out for a 3.0 and tuned with a safc, whole bunch of transmission mods and other things, too much to list!):

Here you can see my guage pods and SAFC ii:

Ultimately had to give her up. Police in NJ don't like when civilians cars can go faster than police interceptors...

And this is what I rock now:

I'm Alex aka scooter1265.

I'm 17 and I live in Indiana

I'm a student and I work at Scott's/Kroger.

I have a PlayStation, PSP, and PS3. I've also had an original 80GB PS3 and an original PS2 that both broke.

I have all of the Gran Turismo games, such as GT, GT2, GT3, GT4, GT HD Concept, GT5 Prologue, GT for PSP, and GT5. I also have Need for Speed: Shift, Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit, and I plan on getting Need for Speed: Shift 2 Unleashed, or whatever its called.

I have a Logitech Driving Force GT, but I mainly use my DualShock 3 to race.

I have a red 2-door 1999 Pontiac Grand Am SE with a 2.4L engine. I plan on replacing my "rims" (hub cap covers) with some new "rims". I also plan on either fixing or replacing my passenger's side headlight. I have painstakingly replaced both side mirrors. My mom backed into my driver's side mirror, so I had to replace it.

Repair checklist aside, this is an older photo from this summer.

Hopefully, I'll be able to be on here consistently. The videos and the crew here are top notch.

Hello SimRacers, my name is Vaughn Temple and I'm a long time racer as SCCA, Porsche club, and Jim Russle British school of auto raceing. Since I have worked in the Computer industry for many years I've looked for ways to home my skills as a on track driver and start computer raceing in the 90's with Electronics Arts Indy Car and NASCAR. I now only do Sim raceing but find it very challenging so it is my way of getting a tension release from my every day routines. I have one big question to the sim Race world " What has happened to the IRL race leg sims raceing American raceing is good too????

Hello, my name is Chris. I live in Flat Rock, Michigan (The Official Home of Mazda in the U.S., btw). My Xbox Live gamertag is Randy Cruel and my PSN name is the same with no space in between.

I've been a gamer all my life. I have always been drawn to racing games. I lived on an Atari game when I was 6 years old. I believe it was called 'Enduro'. I was a huge 'Super Off-Road' and 'RC Pro Am' fan on my old NES. And on the Sega Genesis, I lived on 'Hard Driving'. Actually to this day, I wish I had made my Xbox Live gamertag Phantom Photon. He was The Stig before The Stig was The Stig. 'Hard Driving' fans would know what I mean.

It wasn't until Need for Speed III and Gran Turismo (PSOne days... '97, '98) though, that I realized that racing games were actually my favorite types of games. And it did seem that once consoles went disc-based, that racing games started to appear more an more. I bought just about everything. I got 'Tokyo Xtreme Racing' on launch day with my Dreamcast and I thought it was amazing. I really wish a new version would release that was up to date graphically (unlike the garbage 'Import Tuner' game). Something about that game mode in Tokyo where there's the life bar and you try to drain it by pulling way ahead. It was so unique. I'd like to see GT5 or FM3 put in a life bar mode ala Tokyo.

One weird thing about me... I'm a controller guy. I just can't do the wheel thing (maybe if I had one of those Porche wheels). But the lower end wheels just don't do it for me (the Microsof wheel... bleh). I've always been on controller and when I go wheel I just can't seem to get the same control and lap times as I do with my controller. I know I just dropped down a ton on the serious-racing-gamer list, but I just threw it out there. Just like in FPSs, I could never go to the keyboard/mouse setup. I'm just controller-bred through and through.

So anyways, blah, blah, blah... I've finally decided to jump on my PC and get on this site's boards. I've always enjoyed watching the videos you guys put on youtube. I always have certain questions that are still left after I watch your videos. Now I can ask some of them from time to time.

Lastly, anyone interested in new online friends that only care about having a good, polite time (even over winning a race)... give Randy Cruel and RandyCruel a shout out on their respective online networks. Give a side message along with your request (something like, "hey... saw you on the message board"). I'm always looking for online gamers who just want to hang/chat and an generally just have fun.

Hello ISR Community,

My name is Mike, and I'm near Memphis, TN USA. I'm a tech-geek kind of guy, into electronics, computers, photoshop/illustrator, etc., but I hadn't played any games for quite a while until just recently. I had a few titles that I got when I bought a used Xbox (original, not 360) to modify so I could run XBMC on it (http://xbmc.org/) (http://www.xbmc4xbox.org/), and use it as a home theater pc. The game I got into was Need for Speed: Most Wanted. A fun game that has gotten me interested in playing again.

I've always been into cars, but never knew Sim Racing even existed until I stumbled across ISR while doing a google search for my daughter, who plays EA's game, The Sims 3 with her friends. I was amazed, and have been hooked on the show, and am now looking forward to getting into Sim Racing. I'm going to start by doing my homework to figure out which wheel & pedals to consider, and go from there. I'm sure I'll be asking a lot of questions.

I'm glad I found y'all. Keep up the great work.

- Mike

Hello all :D

I am Paul Beugelsdijk (you English speaking people, don't even try to pronounce my surname as i reckon it's quite hard ;) ). I'm from a small village in The Netherlands, and been a sim racer since '07. I race in a national league, that races rFactor and i guess we're all desperately waiting for rFactor 2 to come out ;).

I started off with a crappy, and cheap thrustmaster which didnt live long, after that i got a G25. after two years a little sensor in my G25 broke, and i decided to get the (at that time) newly released G27 which i am still using today.

I just tried out iRacing, which i think is not the game for me.. being used to rFactor and all. I did do some practise and a race in the Mazda MX-5 cup at laguna seca.. ended up 5th out of 10 racers but over a minute behind the winner in just 11 laps. That demotivated me quite alot, and made me run back to rFactor

Looking forward to be a daily visitor on this forum

As you'd say: checkered flag is out, and so am i 8-)

Hello all, I wanted to drop in and introduce myself. My name is Mike, although wife calls me other names sometimes... I'm probably ranked up as one of the oldest in the forums at 53. Huge fan of ISR. Have had experience in sim racing over the years. I was a member of IRacing about 18 months ago. Unfortunately due to outdated equipment, I just give it up. I've got the "itch" to get started back again.

I treated myself to ordering some new gear which I hope to have this week. Ordered the Porsche 911 gt3 RS V2 and ClubSport Pedals. Told the wife I might even get a cockpit rig and triple monitor set up, (she just shook her head in disbelief). Good to be here. I'm sure i'll be asking some questions and need some help. Hope to catch some of you on the track sometime. :)

My name is Dustin I am 26 and I have been Lurking a while. I Live in western WI. and work in MN as a machinist. I just got married this past summer to my gf of 6 years. I am lucky that my beautiful wife is so supportive and understanding of all of my hobbies. I am a former track champion at my local drag strip, and I picked up a Wissota B-Mod dirt track car that I am hoping to find time to race this upcoming season. I am getting more into sim racing as something to do in the off season or maybe even a cheaper alternative depending on how I like it in comparison. I have a few "understatment" cars that are my pride and joys. some of them being an 1980 Ford Thunderbird "first car" a 1990 Ford Mustang GT "the car I won my championship in" a 2006 Mustang GT Convertable "first brand new car. straight off the show room floor" the sales person didnt believe me when I said I will take that one but thats another story. If I forgot anything feel free to ask. Good luck to everyone on the track and hope to see you out there when my G27 shows up. until then keep it top side up.

Hi there. I'm Ray and I'm a simoholic. It all started out when I was in college and Need For Speed came out. Yes that's NFS with no bloody number after it, it was the first in the series. So yeah I'm a dinosaur...just kiddin I'm only 38. I loved that game, back in '95 or '96 if I recall correctly. I don't know if they had sims back then, NFS was as it is now an arcade racer, although I swear it has gotten more arcade and less "simish" over the years, so I no longer play NFS because I like the realism I see in GT5, which is what I'm currently digging my teeth into. I played NFS using the mouse for steering by moving the mouse left and right, left click was the brake and right click was the gas. I liked that because it was at least analog steering, whereas the keyboard was just unplayable for me. Or at least no fun. So I was dismayed to find out the next iteration of NFS had no way to use the mouse for control of the car! So then I got a wheel which I bought pretty much on impulse, after not playing the NFS series for a while. Was some Logitech force feedback wheel with pedals and a red rubber material covering the wheel. That got me back into racing around on the PC again.

I've never tried I-racing or any of the other true sims but I might after I'm done with GT5.

I currently use a G25 wheel but I just have it attached to my desk, no sim rig yet. Another project for another time maybe.

Hi Folks,

i am Robert, a 31 year old Sim Racer from Germany. I startet "Sim Racing" with my father's Commodore 64 and games like "Pole Position", "Pit Stop 2" and Accolade's "Grand-Prix Circuit" and "Test Drive". At an age of 15 I co-owned an Amiga 600 together with my brother. At this time I was absolutely addicted to Microprose's "Formula One Grand Prix" and Papyrus' "Indianapolis 500". I spent hours with both games, but never managed to finish a complete "500". My best attemp ended after 158 Laps in the concrete wall. In "F1GP" I finished several seasons with 100% race endurance.

In 1996 I bought my first Wheel, but didn't own my own PC at this time. I used the wheel to race my friend. I used his mother's PC with my wheel and he used his own PC and wheel. "Grand-Prix 2" and "IndyCar Racing 2" via null modem connection was amazing at these days. The wheel we used was a Thrustmaster T2 http://www.cyberg8t.com/f2comp/t2.jpg

My second wheel was a Thrustmaster Formula One http://media.eazel.com/screenshots/26/26529_198x216x377e82c188.jpg which I used now with my own PC. "Grand Prix Legends" and Ubisoft's "F1 Racing Simulation" were great games with this wheel.

Wheel number 3 was the Thrustmaster Formula Pro Digital http://img2.anuncios.ebay.es/15/c6/15c698a6121ac8850fe85fa9997546c2_big.jpg. Together with a new PC I played "Need For Speed Porsche", "NASCAR Racing 1999 Edition", "Grand Prix 3" and "CART Precision Racing". I didn't like Force Feedback very much. I tried it at a friend who owned the Sidewinder FFB Wheel and I played "Grand Prix 3" and "Grand Prix Legends" there, but it wasn't good. I was so much used to the non-FFB wheels, that I wasn't able to manage it.

I played with this equipment a long time. All the wheels survived and I still own them and they are working fine :D Due to that I am a Thrustmaster Fanboy. I mean Thrustmaster prior it was bought by Guillemot...

In 2006 I thought that it was time for some new equipment. I bought a PS2 together with "Gran Turismo 4" and this game needed something better than a Dual Shock 2-Controller. So I made my first try with a FFB wheel and bought the Logitech Driving Force Pro http://www.ibitstore.com/image/Logitech%20DRIVING%20FORCE%20PRO%20for%20PS3.JPG and a Playseat Evolution. At this time there was no PC-Driver for this wheel availble so I also bought the brand new Thrustmaster RGT Pro Wheel http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/41255816YGL._SL500_.jpg for my PC and games like "NASCAR Racing 4", "GTR", "GTR 2", "Race 07" and "GT Legends". Each wheel cost less than 100€ so it was a good deal I think.

This is still my equipment used today. Meamwhile I also own a PS3 and GT5 and I am still using the DFP with my Playseat and a 42" Philips LCD-TV. It's a pity that I don't have the time to race, that I had in the past. Things like my Job etc. are always spoiling my attemps to do several-hours-racing-sessions... ;)

A few weeks ago I noticed this very nice Homepage and now I am watching all these shows which are very good. I like them. I am saving money to buy a Fanatec or T500RS one day. A good friend is waiting for his GT2 and I am waiting as well to test it.

I hope we all will have a nice time here so keep racing :P

Best regards,

Robert

Good evening everybody (though it still may be a 'good afternoon' from where most of you write!), I am Francesco and I've been following this fantastic bunch of job-lovers (well I admire you four - Shaun, Darin and the other two - had the chance to do something we all can see you seem really to appreciate :D ) since several weeks.

Thanks to you I could embrace the veeeery difficult move of buying a whole new set of driving peripherals (as they call it in the IT) stocking - finally - away my broken G25 and ACT-LABS shifters (though my excellent A1 Performance Pedals still works like a paradise, and doesn't seem eager to meet their end yet; all this is a point of honor and goes as a congrat. to that company ;) ).

Well, since long days of waiting will be the very and ultimate challenge to me, in the meanwhile I'd be happy to share some brief info on my person.

Let's go straight, though, since I imagine all of you may have a life of your own and may not desire to know life, accidents and miracles (if present)!

The first time I loved cars was when I've been 1. The first thing I said, this always amazes me, was 'gia' a bad 'comprénez' word (well babies ALWAYS understand correctly, it's just that they can't spell it properly :P ) that stood for 'it moves!' in italian.

Then started my passion of Ferrari. I was 6 that time.

At 10, I began to be a F1 fan; in few years no one'd've been surprised of me driving in front of a brand new pc with my glorious NFS HP 1 and Toca 2... which was then replaced with a red MOMO Logitech wheel.

Once in my teenage, I began kart-racing in Rome, and after two years filled with real races and with a final meritory diploma in ACI-CSAI Circuit Racing 'Scuola Federale' (read: Academy) took in Vallelunga (I will never forget that experience, in the good and bad moments like in all the real important check-points of your life) and a half I could've said to have quite a good (gentleman - not professional) experience in real - and sim of course! - driving. I lost my Ferrari passion as well. I found Aston Martins more interesting. :P

My greatest dream is to come back to real circuits... one day. I'd love to attend a 'light' championship (in terms of efforts required, being the cup with few races) in order to fully enjoy it.

One thing that always surprised me, after all, was... I could only be fast as long as I could enjoy what I was doing.

Today I'm still unaware of my real driving capabilities, being them very... vary: with ups and downs.

Still - I can admit that if I had fun racing somewhere - surely I had a good drive there, too! ;)

Hi,

I'm Eric from Los Angeles. Recently picked up GT5 and DFGT to start out but I don't think PC sims are for me since most of my computing are done on underpowered laptops and smartphones.

Bit about my racing game history: Lotus 2, Outrun, Hang-On, Mario Kart, F-Zero, [big gap here during school years], Test Drive Le Mans, GT4, Grid, Midnight Club Los Angeles, and GT5. There are more but this are the ones I can remember at the moment. TD: Le Mans hold a warm place in my heart for introducing me to sim like features on hybrid sim/arcade game. And GT4 sealed the deal for me with sim being the way to go.

Thanks Darin and Shawn for spending time on helping out other sim racers out there.

Eric K.
