Hey all.

My name is, as you may can already see by my user name, Massimo Locatello.

Im 20 years old and i live in a little town in the Black Forest in Germany.

I started off with Sim Racing probably even before i know what that is. My Dad always was into racing and PC gaming so i took it with me since my birth. I started with GP2 by microprose and went on to GP3, GP4 and finally to rFactor.

I tried myself in other Sims as GTR2 but since im more the open wheeler guy i prefer rFactor because of the car physics.

My driving style is probably as Shaun's is like he mentioned in the latest episode since i broke some wheels as well in the last couple of years, including the momo

Now i got the G27 and its still working mighty fine which i am absolutly happy about^^

I love tricky mods and finding the right setup for the cars. Probably not the fastest Sim Racer of all times but i think im quite fast.

What’s Up guys, Ghost_Dice here from South Africa.

Been trolling the Internet for a community that’s for "sim" racing and what better place to find then Inside Sim Racing. I’m a big Sim fan... and Racing in general from you everyday Karts to D1 if it’s got 4 wheels its awesome.

Just a question.

Any of you guys Into Console Racers, PS3

And if so, is there some Kind of League/Championship , and what games ?

Only real Sim type I would call would be GT5p and Supercar Challenge.

Craig from Milwaukee Wisconsin USA

49 years old, never married means never divorced! Motorcycles are my true passion, but at least sim racing lets you crash hard and live.

So as a kid I was at the height of Johnny Lightning and Aurora AFX HO slots, learning to love tiny model cars. Dad had a 1966 GTO and loved to build model planes and cars. Atari 2600 as a teen. Then breaking many PS1 wheel and pedal combos to dust. That's racin...

Got serious about sims when I did not go PS2 and went PC and my value HP desktop could not run EA's F1 2000. Or Superbike 2001. Or anything else.

Venture to the crash course of building giant rigs myself and max credit card.

Got a G27 for my birthday August 23rd. Had to find a way of not using my reading glasses in front of monitors. Age creeps up on everyone.

Took my rig and open cased it. Put it behind a 42 inch VIizio 1080p LCD HDTV. DVI to HDMI.

Rest of specs:

C2D E6420 [email protected] on Gigabyte GA-P35-DS4

2X1 GB Kingston Hyper-X DDR2 PC6400

PNY GTS 250 1GB stock clocks

Masscool 90mm CPU cooler and ThermalTake Duo-Orb card cooler

Onboard AUD to Aiwa 300W Home Theatre

Cheap Walmart table to clamp my wheel on and slide my office chair under in front of the telly.

Thanks for the best sim racing show on the web bar none. Note to show: Send Jessie on a campaign to recruit more women drivers! We need them!

Also thanks for recognizing the clique. The 21st century way to still race tiny model cars with more depth than ever. And an entertaining hobby of automotive art, history and technology.

The poor mans way to own and drive a Shelby Daytona Coupe.

Hi all.

I'm Tone. 41 years young.

I live in England with my girlfriend

I have a PS3, and PC

G25 wheel

Been into video games since the 16K Sinclair Spectrum. (Jetpac, PSST, Cookie etc)

The first game that stirred the simmer in me was definitely Deathchase. It was a motorcyle game raced through trees with guns. Sprite driven of course but produced a great 3D effect at the time, especially for a 16K machine.

After that I guess Chequered Flag was probably next followed by Full Throttle. All for the speccy although I had progressed to a 48k speccy for the latter two games.

I then had a Sega megadrive solely so I could play Road rash which had brilliant 3d at the time.

Next I had an Atari ST where Hang On and Lotus Turbo Esprit occupied me for hours at a time.

And then a pinnacle moment was when I went into an electronic store and just happened to see a next generation console on display with a driving game running that I just couldn't believe.

How could there be such a jump in quality, the 3d and graphics were jaw dropping!

The game was........Sega Rally, on the Saturn. I bought one within a week although I had to wait for the game as it wasn't actually released at the time, making do with Virtua racing in the meantime.

I then got a playstation when I saw wipeout for the first time, and then the mighty Gran Turismo series was out.(so many all nighters on these games, he he)

Been through a few similar games on PS2 and Xbox, and Xbox360, and presently enjoy Dirt2, Grid, Prologue and Shift on PS3, but most (99%) of the time I'm on GTR2, GTR evo, Rfactor, Lfs, iracing and more recently Ferrari Virtual Academy, all on PC.

Don't race online because my Pc isn't up to it, and I can't commit the time needed, but I enjoy just racing the track to be honest.

Am presently saving for a new PC (mine is only a pentium4, although I upgraded it with 9600gt card, memory, and bigger PSU, but the processor is holding me back)

Oops, sorry for the huge letter. Was meant to just introduce myself..:-D

Hi all as you can see im NUUUU lol

Now i am pretty new to sim racing, only just started watchin the youtube episodes wich are very entertaining

and i enjoy the product reviews you guys do so thx Darin, Jessica, Shaun i really like what your doin.

Its the show that got me intrested in iracing (not a IR member yet but u got my intrests) also RF and GTR.

Im a BIG Grand Turismo fan "love that game" cant wait for 5. But like i said this show got me lookin at the pc sims now and even tryed gtr in the past but didnt like it probably cus a was using a gamepad and theirs lots of controls.

But now ive also started seeing a different side to the games and not just lookin at graphics i like the effort they put in the car physics and such i really started to like how the games feel. Now ive never really played much at all with wheels, always used pads but im throwing myself in the deep end now as i just orderd a G27 and i want to learn how to use this wheel fully, clutch and all.

So i would appreciate your help and input guys so i can get started and become part of the community and racing thx.

Hi MadMachineMan.

Hope you enjoy your wheel. I have the g25 and its very good, and more importantly, Well made.

Just my opinion, But I reckon you may be better off having a go with GTR2 before getting into Rfactor and iracing simply because it's slightly more forgiving to the novice sim racer.

By the way, I'm not far away from you. I'm just outside Leek.

Good luck!

Hey whats up my name is Ricky, I live near Chicago Illinois. I have always loved arcade style games and I recently saw the playseat evolution on youtube. I fell in love with it. I am ordering my first sim rig next month and I hope to be racing with it by Thanksgiving. The Logitech G27 with the playseat evo will most likley be my setup, with a 37 inch hdtv and surround sound which I already own. I only have a PS3 so I am awaiting GT5.

Finally registered.

My name is Aleksi, Alex for people who can't pronounce it. I'm from Finland and currently living in WA state. I work during the day with e-commerce and have a part-time supplemental job installing floors (hardwood, vinyl, etc). I am also a photographer: www.aleksilepisto.com

I'm married to my wife of 2 years (as of a few days ago) Gina and I'm 23 years old. I'm just getting into the hardcore Sim racing scene, as I have been watching from the sidelines for a while. I currently play mostly Xbox 360, but used to have an old logitech wheel and play Colin McRae (the very first one) with my brother who was a real rally driver.

Right now I'm saving to buy a rig and am going through all of the issues that anyone who is looking for the first time would be, like which is the best deal, and wondering if it's worth me building a PC, and buying the Fanatec 911 since it's the only wheel that works on both Xbox 360 and PC. The posts here have me a bit worried it won't work out though.

My Xbox Live gamertag is: TheFinnishFury

I mainly am playing F1 2010 but also Forza 3.

Cheers

Martini90 from the Indianapolis area. I've never been much of a gamer, but I'm really into cars.

I especially like road racing, sports cars, F1 style etc. Just ordered a Fanatec Porsche 911 Turbo S wheel

and steadiplay stand. I will be starting out with the Race 07 series (with Race On and STTC) and we

have a PS3 and Xbox 360. (which is why I went for the Fanatec) On the consoles I'll be driving NFS Shift,

Forza 2-3, GT5, and whatever else looks like a winner.

Love the site! The shows are really well done too. Keep it up!

Hi Folks!

Jim here. I'm from Scotland, 29, and just re-discovering Sim racing after some time away.

In my youth I used to play Geoff Crammond's F1GP religiously, then the Papyrus Indycar series, GP2 and Grand Prix Legends.

I was reasonably quick back then, turning some decent times and seem to recall being top 20 in F1GP, in the basic league tables we hand back in the dial-up era… but I have no hard evidence of that!

I bought a TSW wheel and pedal setup just before GPL appeared on the scene, but remember feeling more and more jaded with it the more I played GPL. At the time I was racing real life at national level in Karting, I just couldn't get my head round the lack of feedback from the steering, and especially the brakes, with a simple sprung TSW. I ended up packing it in, craving some form of force feedback - just a pipe dream then. I really needed the car to talk back!

Just recently bought F1 2010 for the XBox, and it brought it all back, all though hours of fun on those early Sims (even though I detest playing on a console controller). So I thought I'd have a look and see where real Sims have got to in the 10-15 years… and I'm very pleasantly surprised!

Really excited by iRacing, the prospect of reasonable force feedback. And what's this… load-cell braking?!!! Whoop!

So I'm thinking I might just throw my hat back in the ring and go racing again. I could do with some help though: 10 years of being a Mac user leave me with a PC to spec and build; and some advice on the best way to go on monitor and wheel/pedal setup would be great too.

Really looking forward getting suck in though!

Jim

Hello Everyone,

G. van Gestel (Gizzernl) here. Almost at the end of my Twenties and interested in (Sim)Racing all my life. I live in the Netherlands together with my Girlfriend and Dog.

I started young at 6 with Grand Prix on the X86 (dos) later went on to GP2 and GP3, Need for Speed series, almost all racing games I could get my hands on. Then I also got a Ps3 and played GT3 and GT4 till my fingers bled. When I went to the University I switched to shooters for a while. Then got a PS3 GT5P and an Xbox 360 FZM3. I enjoyed both games on a casual basis. In real life I have had some race experiences and my real dream is to get my racing license and maybe even try a real season, but for now I doing the attainable and that is some serious simracing. I started IRacing yesterday. Did my first Time Trial after some practice and looking forward to a lot more TT sessions the coming days.

I use a Carrera Wheel with CS pedals on my PC and PS3. A normal chair and some improvised blocking for the CS pedals. Think about getting a wheelstand or Rennsport stand in order to be able to setup and brakeup fast, since I also do some work or try to get some work done ;) at my Computer (specs AMD X4 905BE, 4GB ram, ATI 4850 all crammed in a shuttle case SN78H7 with upgraded psu.) Display is a HP L2475W, soon on a monitor arm stand. So I can get it close to the wheel. I have this screen since I also do some photo editing and the colours are great on this monitor, its a dell 2405WFP competitor.

If you guys on the show or here on the forums ever need some advice on upgrades or hardware, please let me know. Hardware is my other hobby!

Another Sim Racer from the UK here.

Watched all your shows from the start. Back when Darin had colour in his hair and Shaun had slightly more hair (well maybe not  ).

Your reviews have been invaluable over the last few years.. Great stuff.

I've done most of the more popular sims including GTR, GTR 2, GTR Evolution, rFactor, LFS, NR2003 and dabbled with iRacing back in 2008.

I rejoined the iRacing service in August and that tends to be all I now race online.

Anyway... big fan of the show.

PS. Loved Jessica's intervew with Dale jr. What a nice guy... Oh and Jessica herself has come a long way since she started on the show.

Hi folks

My name is Kieran. I live on the west coast of Ireland, am a mature student doing a Masters Degree and not much else. I got back into sim'ing purely by accident. In the past month I built a second hand PC with the sole intention of flight sim'ing but through searching, forums and a chance discovery of isrtv.com, I kinda got hooked on car sim'ing also. So in the past week I have tried most of the big names (Ferrari Virtual Academy, Race 07 + STCC, F1 2010 and an rFactor demo that came with my G27). Last night I subscribed to iRacing and am currently trying it out. I used to play the wonderful GP3/GP4 F1 sim titles by Geoff Crammond, infact I still whip out GP4 on the odd occasion. Apart from those games, I have no other experience of sim racing. My biggest issues right now are figuring out the wheel and trying to get a feel for the cars.

My PC looks like this (all second hand parts from Internet)

Coolermaster HAF 932 tower case

Asus P6X58D-E Motherboard

Intel i7-920 stepping D0 (great for over clocking)

Corsair Dominator DDR3 1600MHz 3x2GB (7-8-7-20 C7)

Sapphire 5870 Vapor-X 1GB Video card

Corsair HX750 PSU

Thermalright Ultra-120 Extreme CPU cooler

I have also invested in a second hand G27 and a new TrackIR (have yet to try out TIR) and on the way as we speak is a wheelstandpro. Last week I went to a car breakers and purchased a drivers seat from an Opel Corsa for €40, I hope to mount it and the wheel stand onto some kinda homemade platform. Basically I am building a beautiful system on a serious budget. With a bit of trust, a bit of luck and knowing what you are doing / looking for, you can save a fortune on kit.

Today, my brand new G15 keyboard arrived in the post. I love it but it takes a bit of getting used to with the typing (I keep hitting G keys instead of shift etc)

Let the dark wet windy Irish winter come. I'm ready for it :)

My name is Lyn Lundquest

I'm a 29 year old guy from NW Ohio

I've been playing video games, mostly racing, for as long as I can remember. I believe, If my memory serves me right, that Indy 500 was my obsession for many years. I have owned every console system from the atari to the ps3 and still own and play them. I've played a few PC racing games in my time but it has been mostly consoles for me. I quit frankly never knew this world was out here until I was browsing youtube and ran into Inside Sim Racing. I was immediately hooked and stared from the beginning watching every episode. The more I watched the more I became hooked. Right now I'm still racing on my ps3 because I own a MacBook Pro and I need a dedicated PC which I'm

Searching for the parts I need now.

Right now my setup is my PS3

LG 42" LCD 1080p HDTV

GT Revolution Pod (which I recently acquired)

Logitech DFGT

Don't know what my plans are for my future setup but let me get my PC first.

I would like to thank Darin and Shaun for the show and opening my eyes to this world... and you also Jessica.

I'm a long time subscriber of the show and finally I've decided to join this great community.

I'm 26 and I've started serious simracing abaut two years ago. My first sim was GTL, later I've bought rfactor and I've joined simracing.pl community. Right now I'm racing mostly on GPL at ukgpl.com.

Man, I'm the last dude to post.

John Evans

I currently live in Taipei, Taiwan

Divorced (thank god)

English teacher to 100 crazy (but insane) Taiwanese 5-9 year-olds

Been racing for 8 years, but never online (as of yet)

Primarily PC. RBR, Nascar 2003, Shift, WRC 2010, Dirt, CMR 2, all GTR and Race titles

Had a Momo wheel for driving but now in storage in wilds of Colorado.

Visiting family this week I have just purchased a Logitech Driving Force GT wheel (which I will have to bring as a carry-on.) Very lame and dorky. But, hey, $400US for a G27 in Taipei? Carry-on baby.

Can't wait to try the new wheel with GT5 and an Aussie V8 game (asian realease only???? Not sure) when I get home next week. BTW, Hot Pursuit has been one of the most heart-pumping experiences in a long time. Just too fun for words. No shifting, no replays, limited forcefeedback . . . no worries. Too fun! (The lads at the video game store also threw in a six foot promo poster all in Chinese. I'll have to take some snaps of it and post it.)

Now that I finally have broadband in Taipei ($18US for broadband, telephone and cable), I should be able to get my ass handed to me in iRacing

Hi all. An old boy here (39), with two little girls (4 and 1). My main hobby is endurance mountain biking, and with a full time job as well I don't get a whole lot of spare time! But, when I do get time to relax, it's all about the gaming :D . I'm pretty much exclusively a PC gamer, and have been since what feels like the dawn of time (or at least the dawn of the PC...Amiga and BBC before that), though I do have a PS3 (for blu-ray and Gran Turismo only). I've got an eyefinity setup (3 x 24", 2 x 5850 CrossfireX) that I absolutely love for all types of gaming.

My old Logitech wheel (the red one) died recently so I'm looking at getting a new one (Fanatec GT3 top of the list at the moment), and I'd love to get something like an obutto as well at some point. Here's my current setup...
