Good day, Friends!

My name is Rhett, 35, and last year I built my first PC.  I jumped the gun posting about it last night before introducing myself.  The ISRTV thread I made is here:

Watched tons of ISR last year as I decided what I wanted for peripherals and my rig.  Starting with a G29 wheel, pedals, and shifter, an Obutto Ozone, and (yep, I'm into VR) and Oculus Rift CV1.  While I clearly like Mustangs (I'm on my fourth one - there was a Camaro in there too at one point) I find that in racing games, I like open wheel.  I currently live fairly close to Daytona, but I never got the chance to get over there and test the track out.  Guess I'll settle for Sim life!  (not the old Maxis game either!).

Hope to see some of you on the track.

Hey guys,

I'm a n00b here, please be nice :)

I work in videogames as an Audio Designer, sadly no driving games yet! I'm 37, pretty bad racer, and a beginner at taking it vaguely seriously. I only currently own a PS4 and a T150 (don't kill me for this haha) but my next computer will be a PC instead of a Mac (thank god) and I really want to try something a bit more serious.

On the PS4, I own AC, PCars, Dirt Rally, Driveclub, will buy GTS at some point soon. Been playing racers since Geoff Crammond's sterling work on the Amiga!

So yeah, total n00b on the site, and in sim racing, but would like to learn!

Cheers guys,

Jon

Hi All,

Long time reader of the site and watch all the YouTube clips as well. I'm from Melbourne, Australia and love racing games. My interest in the genre started with Geoff Crammonds Grand Prix games on PC and since then I've played pretty much every major racing game release up to and including my current rotation of PCars, Assetto Corsa, Dirt Rally and Dirt 4, F1 2016 and WRC 6 all on PS4 Pro. Looking forward to playing GT Sport, PCars 2 and F1 2017 later this year. I've dabbled with iRacing on PC in the past but with small children the fixed start times of online races tend to be tricky to schedule and participate in.

My current setup is a Next Level Wheel stand with T300RS, T3PA pedals, TH8A shifter and PS4 Pro & PSVR. Looking forward to when my little kids are older so I can stop packing up the wheel stand every night and get a permanent solution with an integrated monitor/TV stand.

PSN is RooBoys if anybody is up for some PS4 racing!

Hi ISR community

I'm a 43yr old, work fulltime digging holes (for dead people) and spend a lot of my spare time playing games of one kind or another. Consoles, PC, Handhelds.

I've always had an interest in racing game ever since my days of playing Outrun in the arcades as a kid. I used to love playing Toca Race driver on the PC with a Microsoft Sidewinder wheel. Before giving up on wheels and doing most of my gaming with a control pad.

I literally just ordered a TMX Pro with the TP3A pedals and a Next Level Racing Wheel stand to hook up to my xbox one/PC. Now i just have to wait for the damn courier.

Am planning on playing Dirt Rally, Dirt 4, Forza 6 (and 7 in October on the xbox one x), Forza Horizon 3, Project Cars all on the xbox.

What Racing series would you all recommend for the PC?

Cheers.. Thomas

Hello all. New here. Deciding to jump in head first into the Sim racing world. Mainly to help my wife expedite her wanting to learn how to drift but figured i could have some fun with it too. Going to be getting a PC built here soon and figure just start with the best and go with a Fanatec wheel/pedal setup. Probably will be playing Assetto Corsa and iRacing mostly. Cant wait!

Hi Thomas,

I have to ask, is your job official, or do you work for, ahem, private organisations:)

Total simracing noob here.

Shane

44yo

NE Florida

Was fairly serious about roadracing motorcycles a long time ago. (How long ago? I got crushed by Nicky Hayden on an RS125 when he was like 12...... that long. lol ). Did some flat rack racing too. When I was finally too beat up to fling a bike around I fiddled with cars for a while. A little roadracing, mostly Winged Sprint cars here in the SE USA. More or less stopped racing to concentrate on business a while back. Will probably get back into a Sprint Car soon.

Hey, I'm Mario. 45 years old. Been around race cars all my life. I wrap cars for a living. My 10 year old boy loves SIM racing ( so do I ). I just finished building him a cockpit with a Thrustmaster TMX and now working on a DIY handbrake for him. We race on Xbox ONE. Since we still have warranty on the wheel, it was a challenge figuring out a handbrake but working on something. Will post when done for sure. Looking forward to learn on here and eventually do a better setup.

Hi

My name is Aaron.  I'm from Cleveland, Tennessee.  I have always been interested in buying a complete racing rig for me and my kids (all under 10) to play.  I'm here to learn how to build one or to find one for sale.

Hello Everyone,

53, Single, In Asheville NC. Two Kids both adults. I discovered Iracing maybe 8 months ago. I've been watching Youtube broadcasts and trying to learn everything I can about how to build my own rig. Never been a gamer except for pinball, darts and billiards. But Iracing just looks to cool to not get involved in. Been a race fan since elementary school. Started off as an oval fan. But enjoy all forms of racing. Ive raced Karts on dirt ovals and did some RC racing as well. It seems to me that racing Karts, RC Cars and Sim racing are all about in the same $$$$ range. Except Sim Racing costs are mostly up front. Like most newbies I suspect I am a little overwhelmed with the choices and skill sets I need to develop in order to DIY my first Sim Rig. I've Started Buying components. Got along way to go before I'm buying an Iracing subscription. Im here because I suspect I'll shorten my learning curve and make more informed decisions before I spend hard earned cash on components that will get me where I want to be. This site definitely seems to be a good place to hang out for the kind of intel a rookie like me needs to acquire before getting on track.

Should be ready by 2018/2019.

Hey guys and gals,

The name is Chanse. Been a gamer since the early 90s as soon as I could hold a controller. 28 now, always loved cars and racing but never invested in a wheel until recently.

I first purchased a Thrustmaster TMX pro, now I have the Thrustmaster TX with the stock Ferrari 458 rim, with T3PA pedals.

I play Project Cars 2, DiRT 4 and F1 2017 and dabbled in iRacing for a time.

Looking to really get into sim racing, any tips or setups would be greatly appreciated.

Hello,

My name is Michael and I go by Zooming993.  I live in the Northeast (PA), I'm 57, married, 2 boys (18 & 13), retired and new to sim racing.  Although new to sim racing I've always loved driving or riding anything with 4 or 2 wheels.  I grew up in Southern CA (Los Angles) and have fond memories of attending Saturday night racing at Saugus Speedway.  Later in life I attended just about every Long Beach Grad Prix up until we moved to the Eastcoast.  Once here I found myself attending  a few Nascar races at Pocono Raceway along with Dover Speedway.  I'm fortunate enough to have acquired a few cars of my own, a sport car, a hot rod and a classic muscle car.  As I've stated above, I'm new to sim racing and with this in mind I'm in the process of putting together my first system.  As of the time of this post I've purchased the following components/items:

  • RS1 Cockpit
  • rSeat Triple Monitor Stand (3X32")
  • ClubSport Wheel Base V2.5
  • ClubSport Porsche 918 RSR Wheel
  • ClubSport Pedals V3

At this point I'm researching gaming PC's and to be honest I find it very confusing.  I will be leaning on I.S.R. for help in this area.  I plan on going with three 27" monitors so I know this is something I need to address when choosing the right PC.

Enough rambling, thanks n advance for any help you can provide me in this new and exciting endeavor.

Hi from Springfield, MO

I am Edward and am a disabled veteran looking to Computer games as one way  (along side Astronomy, Pickleball, Wood working and others) of easing my PTSD issues.

I have dabbled in racing games and sims off and on but never seriously enough to learn how to drive and I hope to find some folks patient enough with my memory and learning issues to help me learn. any advice on Items I need to still buy would be helpful, I have seen videos with switch boxes and touch screen monitors but I have no clue what is needed, useful, or just junk.

I am looking to invest in a 3 Monitor setup with either a Volair Sim (because it has a Aviation Panel for Saitek panels) OR Obutto R3volution cockpit (It seems to be the sturdier option that allows for multiple sims) for Flight, Space and Racing Sims (IF it is easy to swap from one to another, I can not seem to get a straight answer on that, Wish there were videos showing how to switch between different types of games)

My Setup is

Case: iBuyPower Snowblind, MB: MSI Tomahawk Arctic | CPU: Core i7-7700 3.6GHz (Turbo 4.20) | Video: MSI 1070 Armor 8GB | RAM: ADATA XPG 16GB (2 x 8GB) DDR4 3000 (PC4 2400) | OS Drive: 250GB SATA PC SSD WD Blue | Data Drive: 2TB Toshiba | High Power 800w Bronze | Win 10 Home Edition 64-bit,Monitors LG 34UC97-S, Sony 55" A1E OLED TV, Peripherals:  Oculus Rift and touch controllers, Logitech G920 (I still need to get shifter), CH Products Flight Yoke, Throttle Quadrant and Rudder pedals, and Saitek X-56 H.O.T.A.S.

ACsetup.jpg.06c653d9a17a1adf3808bba778b898da.jpg

My current games are

Racing: (I have either not played them at all or have less than 2 hours on them) iRacing (Just got a 1 year account last night), And on my Steam account I have Assetto Corssa (with Dream Pack 1-3), rFactor, rFactor 2, Dirt 3 Complete Edition, and GRID (The first one I think)

Flight games: FSX Steam Edition, Prepar3d, and X-Plane 9 and 11

Space Games: Elite Dangerous, Star Citizen

Future Socal Sim Racer here.  Almost 30 years old and need a new hobby at home.  I have a PC and Xbox One, but i prefer PC.  i5 with GTX1070, hopefully that will suffice for sim racing.  So far I bought a Thrustmaster TX Leather Edition and TH8A Shifter.   Might return it and get a fanatec shifter+handbrake combo. Cheers to a new hobby!
