Looking to get the TX base(assorted Wheels) with T3PA pedals and TH8A shifter on top of a GT OMEGA PRO with triple monitors (undecided on triples or large single). I would also like to make the "R-POD MKII" as a second, friends only, game night sim. I think these are a great start and hope to upgrade to the more high end items as time progresses.

Hi guys. My name is Jonathan. I'm from Louisville, KY and I'm 38. I've been playing around at sim racing since the days of Papyrus' first Indycar Racing on and off. Lately I've taken to Project CARS and FM5 on the XBox and have done some league racing on TORA and the defunct VM. I haven't played on PC since GTR2 just because of the costs of maintaining a good gaming PC rig, though iRacing is tempting me to do it again. I just ordered my first real wheel today, the Thrustmaster TX. I joined to check out some of the DIY rigs and I really enjoy Darin's reviews of gear and the games. I look forward to joining in the discussion.

Good Afternoon,

New to this sim racing with a wheel I have just got myself a Thrustmaster TX setup, I've been played 'sims' since the first Gran Turismo all the way till i purchased LFS very long time ago (mouse and keyboard :/ ) and bought assetto corsa last year but used a pad, current playing project cars on X1 but i need to set it up for LFS and Assetto Corsa.

Anyway i just have a plain TX wheel and pedals with simul8rs pvc pipe rig and a mk3 golf gti seat and loving it

Was thinking if iRacing is worth it ? to a new or get accustomed to the wheel before i try it ? or maybe rFactor ?

My name is Tom and I turned 50 this year.

I am married with three grown children and one grand daughter.

I love cars and hope that simulators will be satisfying.  I've been watching videos and dug out a black Logitech Momo wheel I picked up about 12 years ago.  Then joined iRacing and have been having lots of fun this week learning to drive,  I'm not positive what direction I will go but I am leaning toward street and rally cars.  I'm going to take ideas from all of the plywood cockpits and design and build my own.

This may just be the ultimate indoor hobby.

Cheers o/

Welcome Tom. I started on the Momo as well (still have it in the garage actually) and Its a nice wheel, little small but it works.

Hopefully you can find a nice wood cockpit to build. I have plans for mine below if you click the link in my signature.

You can look at those and see if the design is something you'd be interested in.

I built my rig for really cheap, so you don't need to spend a lot of money to have fun and the realisim.

Some of my favorite sims are Assetto Corsa and Euro Truck Sim 2. You might want to check out those and Pcars along with Iracing.

Hi everyone,

My name is Kevin, I am from Solon, OH.  I'm 30 years old, two kids and a wife.  I have been into sim racing since about 2005, played racing games for many years before that....but not with a wheel.  I have been playing videogames since I was 4 years old however LOL.  I built myself a MAME arcade cabinet recently, and along with my sim racing rig I have a lot of fun playing video games.

Other hobbies include electric guitar, & slot car racing.  Some of my guitar playing can be found here for those who enjoy that sort of thing :)

I race on PS3 and PS4, PSN ID is ShredGuitarKev.

Hi, My name is Bruce and I live in Detroit Lakes, MN.  I'm 52 and I  have been disabled for 2 years and I need another hobby.  I'm into playing and making Electric Guitars, I also have a Pontiac GTO.  I recently purchased a PS4 and Project Cars game.  I have received the PS4 yet so I have been looking into SimRacing again.  Last time I sim raced was 15 years ago on a PC with PAPYRUS NASCAR race game.  I had a wheel and pedals but I don't remember what brand it was.  I have been looking at different plans to build my own cockpit.  My 2 boys are building these huge gaming PC's and the graphics in these new games are incredible.  Depending how things go with the PS4 I will most likely finance a gaming PC designed and built by my boys.  I have a lot to learn so I hope to get to know some of you fellow racers.  Feel free to drop me a line and say hello and would appreciate any advice on what wheel and pedals to buy and anything else you would like to share.  Thank you.

Hi Guys and Girls

My name is Martin. I live in Brisbane Australia. I am looking at getting into some more serious sim racing. I have previous experience with console titles and have done a little pc racing before, nothing like what I am planning though. I am wanting to get set up for both XBone and PC. Currently looking at Thrustmaster TX with the T3pa pro and TH8a. Not too sure about the seat option yet but may go with the GT Ultimate from Pagnian once the tax return comes in. I am looking at Project cars for XBone and already have a few of the Forza offerings which I usually drive with the controller.

I have to ask though, is the consensus on sim rig better to go with a premade rig, or build your own?

Hey guys my names Jonny as my screen name says, i live in Sheffield England and i'm 31yrs old. I've always been into racing games on console and drifting on forza etc but never really looked into buying a sim setup until project cars came out. I am loving this game and it has forced my hand to buy my current rig.

I'm running a Playseat EVO Topgear edition with a Thrustmaster TX wheel and Thrustmaster T3pa-Pro pedals. Unfortunately i have 4 kids so my rig gets dismantled after every session by in down to 15 mins now lol.

Anyways i'll see you around the forum.

Hello everyone, I'm Tudor. I'm 54 and have been simracing for the last 6 years starting with GTR2 and GTL and more recently with AC. I enjoy GT and historic racing and I'm really liking the content from RR which I only discovered last week. Will need some time to get to grips with it but will be signing up for your TC series starting next month if there's room.

I have a dedicated sim PC with a fixed setup and my trusty DFGT.

Look forward to seeing you on track :)

Hello there everyone, and thank you Darin for setting me up on the forums.

I'm Barney, I'm 25 years old and I'm from Essex in Merry Ol' England. Ever since I was 5 years old, I've always been passionate about racing games (and motorsport too). Some of my favourites include Gran Turismo, Forza Motorsport and Driveclub. PC Sim Racing is something I'm just getting into and try more, since I got Project CARS and Assetto Corsa.

My wheel is a Thrustmaster T300RS.

I picked this up a few weeks ago and I absolutely love it. The whole thing is mounted to a GT Omega Racing Wheel Stand. As for the pedals, they are going to be swapped out for some T3PA PRO pedals. And a TH8A Shifter will also be added in soon (along with a GT Omega shifter mount).

I race on PC, PS3 and PS4 with the wheel. And Xbox One...with a...controller...yeah.

Anyway, look forward to seeing you out on the track :)
