Nv_CaRRiED 0 Report post Posted December 17, 2013 My name is Dakota Duncan I'm 22 years old and I'm from central Illinois. I joined this site back when I was into Forza just never posted anything until now. It's been well over a year since I have played any racing games and it's been something I have wanted to do since I built my pc back in Jan 2013 just have never got around to it. Then found myself on the iRacing site the other day and seen the 50% off deal one thing lead to another and now I'm a iRacing member and have a Fanatec GT3 RS XL bundle on its way. I have been a gear head since I was a about 13 years old and have loved everything to do with cars since then and I'm really looking forward to being able to start sim racing finally and something tells me I won't be getting much sleep when everything gets here. lol
Dweezil 0 Report post Posted December 18, 2013 Hello everyone. My name is Roger Edwards, I live just west of St. Louis, MO., and I'm an old guy (49). I did several years of Solo II auotx in a tricked out Miata (CSP class), and won a couple of class championships…but that's been a few years ago! I've wanted to race cars since I was a little kid, and aside from SCCA Solo II, my dreams were never quite realized. Now, with a daughter in college and other expenses that take a priority to "real" racing, I decided to enter the world of SIM racing and I'm very much looking forward to it. I have a Logitech G27 on the way, along with an inexpensive racing seat. My next venture is to actually build the rig on which to attach everything. Currently, I plan on placing this in my man cave in front of a 60" HDTV but later plans might include smaller/multiple monitors. I am going to start out with console racing to get my feet wet, get my rig set up the way I want it, and experiment without interfering with more serious racers. I intend on joining the iRacing series in early 2014. Any tips/suggestions would be greatly appreciated as I venture into building my first rig. I will be making it out of wood…not quite sure about the plan just yet. If you have any good suggestions on plans, I'm all ears. Thanks, and I look forward to seeing everyone on the track! Bloodycut 11 Report post Posted January 5, 2014 I'm Bloodycut and I started simdriving with Commodore 64 with various games then PC. C64 my favourite was Grand Prix Circuit and sometimes Pitstop 1&2. On PC my first wheel game was IRC Rally (Finnish version Tommi Mäkinen Rally). My wheels have been Logitech Formula Forcefeedback Ex, Momo, DFGT and nowadays Thrustmaster T500RS and TH8. I play now RBR 2014, DTM Experience, GTR Evolution. I haven't ever be enthusiastic about online driving because my skills are not so good, perhaps I should practice more I'm driving on Wheel Stand Pro V2. DTM is close to my heart, same to rally. I like Le Mans, Nordschleife, Nurnburgring, Neste Rally and many others. Perhaps on future I like to drive hydraulic pedals factory made or custom. 1 Bloodycut reacted to this

Dave362 6 Report post Posted January 9, 2014 My turn, I live in Eastern Washington USA and am 56 years old. I've messed around with Forza quite a bit, but never really got very far with my driving skill. Just this holiday season I purchased rf2 and AC and have been enjoying the added challenge of more accurate physics and the whole PC sim thing. I really like mapping keyboard functions to my G27, even though I sometimes forget what all those buttons do.... I've already learned a bunch lurking on here and look forward to the opportunity to get involved. Dave

DeadEye 31 Report post Posted January 19, 2014 Hello Everyone, I'm 62 and 80% blind. Hence my name. Two eye strokes last May (2013) Bummer for sure but I can still see good enough to oval race. Not so sure about road racing. I raced in the real world for 30 years in Sprint cars, Midgets, Late Models and Karts on both dirt and pavement. So now on to simracing. Beyond actually racing I have been an announcer, a flagman and promoter. So yeah I have been heavily involved in racing my whole life. Look forward to getting to know you all… 3 Kevin Jowett, Neilwales and Ricky Davies reacted to this

butlerbMMO 0 Report post Posted January 22, 2014 Hi Everyone, I live in New York. I've been on the console gaming scene over the last 7 years now and I am not starting to venture into the PC Gaming (and Sim Racing) world. I've raced iRacing, ARCA Sim Racing, and Rfactor on PC before and ARCA had me hooked.
meeting 0 Report post Posted January 23, 2014 Howdy everybody. I'm Jake from Wyoming of all places, I've been racing on Forza with the Xbox wheel since the Xbox 360, and Gran Turismo on a controller on the PS1 before that. I just ordered a G27 and have been picking up racing games on steam sales since I decided to focus strictly on PC gaming with the new consoles coming out. I'm more than excited to get into some of the sims the PC offers, I'll be letting everyone know how I like all the games I've got on PC now, Dirt, Grid, F1, WRC, Nascar, and maybe if the good reviews keep coming in I'll check out a month of iRacing. MattyK-USA 109 Report post Posted January 29, 2014 Well, why not. Matt Kossler here, folks call me Matty K. I am 52 years old and live in Savannah GA with a wife and 13-year-old son who I can't get off of Battlefield 4. I work in Aerospace. I am a long time IRL driver, club stuff like BMW CCA and PCA mostly. I also like going to schools like Porsche's Sport Driving School series, which is one EXPENSIVE but fun way to get your racing cert. I've played with Sprint Cup cars with the Richard Petty experience too. I drive a Porsche 911 SC Targa for my track car, which will probably turn into a Cayman S in the Spring. I have had great interest, but no time in the past, to get into sim racing. So, now I'm trying. I found an Xbone under the Christmas tree, therefore Forza 5 is my first go. Once I got the Thrustmaster TX and the Wheel Stand Pro as a little starter set, I found that some real life experience translates, and some doesn't due to some physics that don't seem quite right, the loss of the "seat of my pants", and zero brake feel. I need me some real brakes - I'm a trail-braker, and it just feels alien on this pedal set. Anyhoo, I'm loving the experience - warts and all - with the console. I'll try to stay patient and get used to the "sim" experience, and hopefully will get into something PC-based that might have some of my tracks (does anyone know if any packages have Roebling Road?). I feel a little like I've been hiding under the stands at the track here for a while, mainly because I didn't feel like I had a lot relevant to contribute. Probably still don't. Cheers - 5 Kevin Jowett, CaTaPulT, Ricky Davies and 2 others reacted to this
Krayton29 1 Report post Posted February 20, 2014 My name is Chris Hyson I am 24 and been a gamer since I got my Sega Genesis when I was about 6 or 7. I am returning to Sim racing after about a year off. Looking to actually focus on it and improve myself instead of just an occasional hobby. I have only done some rec rally cross so not a whole lot of seat time out in the real world. However my father used to race at a local short track, so I have been around racing since day 1. I live in a small town in Maine, currently at state university for Psychology and Computer science (odd combo I know, long story). I plan on focusing mostly on road racing, and only plan on playing iRacing. Just ordered myself a brand new G27. Quite and upgrade coming from a Momo without a power cable (i.e. no feeback lol). If anyone wants to race hit me up on iRacing (Chris Hyson) Thanks! 1 Kevin Jowett reacted to this
Dreamon_21 4 Report post Posted March 10, 2014 My name is Terry Hallick. I am 47 years old, married with 2 boys. I am an account manager in the automotive welding industry. I started sim racing back in 1990 on my work pc. I dabbled on an off until 2004, running Papyrus games. I was a huge open wheel fan until the split in the US and then switched to Nascar. I raced karts as a teenager for 5 years, a stock car on 1/4 mile asphalt oval and took the Jim Russell Racing School in Mont Tremblant, QC in 1995. I never lost the bug, but realized I would never be able to afford a real car so i am getting ready to start my iRacing career. I am assembling my pc, i5-3570k, Asus P8Z77-V Pro, Gigabyte GTX760 4GB, 8GB ram, with 3 24" AOC monitors. When I am up and running I will let you know. Wish me luck. 1 FannBlade reacted to this
MattyK-USA 109 Report post Posted March 10, 2014 Welcome, Terry! Sounds like you're off to a good start. As you can see from the posts above yours that I am a relative newcomer to ISR as well, and also came from the IRL track driving side of things. You're in for a great time - and the realism these days is off the charts! Do you have a wheel set in mind?

Mike Hotere 11 Report post Posted March 27, 2014 Hi guys, My names is Mike, I'm 28, live in Australia and have been into sim racing for a few years(since the introduction of the G25) The day I bought myself the wheel, i bought LFS and then rFactor, and now I've made the move into iRacing(thanks to my sister for an early birthday present). I'm currently unemployed as I don't consider the 4 part time jobs I have, "a real job". I'm also a 4th and final year student in Media & Communications. I produce music for fun and when I'm not on the couch watching the V8 Supercars or the Sprint Cup/Nationwide series, I'm riding my bike with mates and enjoying it. I've always wanted to get into racing, but I've never had the financial means to do so. I still dream of putting a car together with my brothers and one day entering into Targa Tasmania. My current setup is; Intel i5 4670k, 8GB Ram, Sapphire 7850 OC, 120GB SSD, 2*2TB WDD HDD. I have a custom watercooling loop(CPU+GPU) all tucked inside a monstrous Corsair 800D. I have a second hand Logitech G27 that i bought for $100 and use a single 21.5" AOC FULLHD monitor. I've only recently returned to the sim racing world, so my next week with iRacing will be practice filled and reading as much as humanly possible. I have watched the Driving School videos and am about to start with the how to videos. Is there any other useful articles I could go over that could help me with my journey? Thanks guys and hopefully, I'll catch you out on the track. 1 Ricky Davies reacted to this

mikedem 124 Report post Posted March 28, 2014 Hi guys, My name is Mike. I'm 45 and I live in Ottawa Ontario. Work as a shop foreman/tech at a Ford Dealer here in Ottawa. I have Been sim racing since around '92 When Formula One Grand Prix (World Circuit) came out. Originally had a homemade wheel with sequential shifter I built myself. Moved up to a Logitech Formula force and then for the past 10 years or so a Logitech Momo. Pretty much owned and played every Papyrus game and every other race game from that point on with varying amounts regularity. For the past 5+ years mostly playing GTR2/Legends/Race series and the Codemasters F1 series but very little time spent on it. Picked up Assetto Corsa a few weeks ago and got REHOOKED on sim racing. Picked up a G27 a few weeks back and the addiction is in full force now. I have watched ISR/SRT on youtube from nearly the beginning and always have enjoyed it. Pretty much best source of info anywhere on new games I believe. My system is a decent gaming system. i5 2500K, liquid cooled, 16GB HyperX Ram, GTX660 video card, 24" LED Monitor, Logotech gaming keyboard and mouse. For the past 19 years I have worked for the same driver as a crew chief in Cascar, then Legends and now in a ACT Late Model. Always the guys working on the car. I save my driving for when I can push escape and start over! Much cheaper that way. Still enjoy Nascar but Sportscar and F1 are my favorites for the past 10 years or so - Been to 4 or the last 5 Sebring 12hrs and many of the ALMS races at Mosport in the past and a few Canadian GP in Montreal hoping to get some skills back quickly and look forward to racing online with you guys soon. Here are a few pics of what I have worked on over the years.
