Desktop for sim racing

12 posts in this topic

Hi,

Im looking for a good ( high end for the money) desktop so i can play iracing, arca racing etc. races which can play them in very high quality and will run smoothly ( no random spikes ) and can handle flight simulators as well.

It would be good if it would fall into the price range of around £340-£440 pounds

Any help will be apprecated.

On that kinda price I would say it would barely run on high on a single screen. note I do not know the req for I Racing...

From the iRacing website, min specs:

Windows XP, Windows Vista, or Windows 7

Intel Core 2 Duo or Athlon X2
or higher

NVidia GeForce 7800 / ATI Radeon X1800 or above graphics adapter recommended

2 GB system RAM

6 Gb free hard disk space

If you are paying over $700 for a rig of those specs, then you are being ripped off big time.

If you want a good gaming machine for the money, I would suggest getting an i3 CPU, and spending extra money on a graphics card. Especially if you wanting to be running multiple monitors, you will want a decent graphics card, if you want to run 3 monitors you may need 2 x graphics cards.

4GB of RAM would be plenty.

Are you going to be building this PC yourself, or are you planning on buying a pre-made one?

i'm trying to look for a good desktop pc for rfactor 2 and most pc games on high quality.

not that knowledgeable tho.

a friends suggested :http://www.medion.com/gb/electronics/prod/MEDION%C2%AE+AKOYA%C2%AE+P5204+D+%28MD7659%29/10014691A1;jsessionid=07BAEC96B811C253BC903A824C886A9C.appserv27?category=&recId=

and there is http://www.argos.co.uk/static/Produ...3 ... 11|Desktop computers|14419114.htm

which is best and are any of them any good please?

Both of these computers will struggle to play many games on even low quality due to the graphics cards.

I've never done much research on pre-built computers, as i just make my own, but I can tell you that graphics cards that can play any game out on highest settings cost about $200. So you could always buy a cheap pre-built computer and buy a separate graphics card to put in it which is pretty easy.

thank you so much for reply.

i only just saw it.

however, i did some research and realised the differences in the graphics cards.

i've bought what i hope is a pretty decent pc probs spending over 200 pounds more than i'd hoped with screen, keyboard etc thrown in at around £900.

i'm not an expert tho and altho i could have bought parts or built one myself (in theory) realistically i needed one pre made.

this apparently plays almost all games on high settings:

thanks again.

Looks like a good choice for the money. It looks pretty too!

You can go to a site where you can totally customize your Desktop to fit your budget and needs. You will be able to run all games at a good rate with a 700 dollar budget. It won't be triple screens though because screens will push you over your budget.

www.ibuypower.com

www.cyberpowerpc.com

These are two sites that will custom build a pc to your specifications and have their own warranty. You can build you own but if you don't know that much about building computers either learn how before you buy or just have someone like from the sites listed above build you a custom computer. I've put together a system I want and had many choices for all of the components.

wish there was a "like" button somewhere :-)

regarding having one built...you probably could save more money altho for the spec i have, i would say i would probs save about £100- £150 and i'm not sure what i'm doing. probably lazy with research.
