jlq39 0 Report post Posted March 23, 2012 Hey Darin, Just wondering exactly how prizes will be awarded. I remember early on the word was that the top split winner would get his pick of any prize and the rest would be distributed throughout all splits, but I never knew exactly what that meant. Will the winner in each split win something or are there other ways? Just curious as it's fun to be racing for something other than bragging rights. After watching the last ISR episode it looks like the prizes just keep getting better. Can't wait for this thing to go down, it's going to be a lot of fun. Thank you guys again for putting this event on and giving so much to the sim racing community! Lee
Darin Gangi 1,074 Report post Posted March 23, 2012 Hi Lee, Still ironing things out for prizes.. Right now.. Top split winner will get to pick his prize.. But.. That's only if he doesn't cause an yellow flag / incident. Then I think we're going to distribute the prizes amongst the other split winners.. Each split winner will get to pick a prize and then the remaining prizes will be awarded to a few drivers that had no incidents in the event and finished on the lead lap. Those drivers will be put into a pool and then Jessica will draw names on our show to announce those winners. Winners of splits will be able to have incidents points against them and still win a prize, but.. they need to prove that they didn't cause wreck if they do have points against them. If the winner of a split causes a wreck / brings out a caution, then we will offer the prize to 2nd place in that split. Our goal is to promote clean / fun racing. No one wants to sit through 300 miles of caution flags. How does that sound ? We're still open to suggestions.
jlq39 0 Report post Posted March 23, 2012 I think that sounds great. I really like the fact that your taking incidents into account, and that depending on how many splits there are versus the number of prizes you have, that other participants who didn't win, but drove a good clean race will have a shot at a prize. Thanks for the info on that.
left888 18 Report post Posted March 24, 2012 I'm qualified for a C license in road but have yet to do any oval racing. I do own all the cars and about 70% of the tracks. I can hot lap the dickens out of the truck but have no idea how badly I will do in traffic. So, any practice time scheduled before the race? I don't want to join if I have zero seat time. Rarshaiz 0 Report post Posted March 31, 2012 I think there was some sand bagging going on in the bottom split. The best way to avoid sand bagging and more fair to all involved would either say you cant post a faster time then your qualifying lap time would make people run all out to get there fastest lap time, or instead of saying only people finishing on the lead lap with 0 incidents will be eligible to win a prize, make it anyone with in 5 laps of the leader and 0 incidents would qualify. Either method would help keep sandbagging out of the equation. Just my opinion as i hate sandbagging.

I suck at qualifying and my times varied from a 40.6 to a 41.0 when I was practicing.. I would have probably been in the second split and easily contended for the win if I stayed out of trouble. Just because you won an event, doesn't mean you automatically won a prize. Also, how many leagues out there offer prizes in multiple splits and then even to people for finishing a race on the lead lap? If you're referring to the last Pro - C split.. part of the problem was me and the fact that I didn't split the fields right. There was only 15 drivers in that race where the others had 30+ and even 43. I apologize to anyone that effected and have since learned what I could have done different to fix it. Mike Heikes 0 Report post Posted April 1, 2012 I am interested to see how the prizes play out. I am worried that even though I won the race I was in that I won't get anything since only 5 racers started the race. I was the first one in the room and did not realize until after I qualified that there were so few drivers in there. I was in the 2nd split for the rookie/d class.
