jlq39 0 Report post Posted February 24, 2012 Just wondering for those of you running the March on Michigan ISR race, what kind of times I should be looking at in practice? I know the practice race is coming up tomorrow, but just curious what a decent time is with the fixed setup.
Ted Severns 1 Report post Posted February 24, 2012 I have been running around at 40.7s... I sure some might get into the 40.4s. But, I guess we'll find out tomorrow.

Zulu0001 1 Report post Posted March 20, 2012 Anyone got any tips on this track? I'm terrible and don't really understand what I'm doing wrong.. Me too.. I ran the practice, qualifying and race last night (03/19/2012) Dead last, boy am I slow, seems to me that the middle to high line is the fastest, problem is I like the walls way too much. 42.xx's best I could do That's ok practice makes perfect (I guess#$*^%!@). My plan is to try to finish the race on the 31st with no incidents. Andy
Yokel 4 Report post Posted March 21, 2012 the setup is stable but a little weird coming out of four. dont use the brake, and work on rolling into and out of the gas in the corners. Its mostly throttle control. thinking that the middle grove might be the line to run. got passed on the outside by a driver who was running the middle when I was trying to hit the white line in the center. When the truck tightens up a bit that seems to be ok, but on cold tires it almost to loose to run low. speaking of trucks, how does paint scheme sharing work in iracing? gotta get my sponsor some air time. USteppin 2 Report post Posted March 21, 2012 I've got the back end of the truck under control now but my pace drops off dramatically after lap 10 or so.. I just slowly start going to the back of the field. Are there any turn in points I should be looking out for? I've tried braking, throttle control, no gas at all, the truck just does not want to grip into the corner. I'm running low/mids 43's. Maybe I have some wheel or game settings wrong or something? I don't really understand..

Ted7rns, Thanks for the tip, I went from mid 43's to mid 42's Now with some practice I think I can drop my times, just need to remember smooth...... USteppin 2 Report post Posted March 24, 2012 Wow.. so I decided to some reading on the iRacing forums for wheel settings and decided to redo all my stuff. I have a Logitech G27, I enabled the centering spring at 100% in the Logitech profiler which was previously off. And then in the game I turned the force feedback damping from 25 all the way to 0. I practiced with it like that for about 15 laps and jumped into an official fixed setup 32 lap race and finished 7th.. fastest lap was a 40.934, average lap time was probably a mid to high 41. Felt like a completely different game.. now I gotta learn how keep that rear end under control again. http://members.iracing.com/membersite/m ... id=5271031
Zulu0001 1 Report post Posted March 24, 2012 Ok I'm back to scratching my head. I've run 300 to 400 laps working on my throttle control. Last night I ran 75 laps the entire practice, qualifying and the race. I came in 4th just because there were a few folks knocked out of the race. Everyone passed me like I was standing still. I was able to keep most of my lap times in the mid 42's with only 1 41.9 or so. Am I doing something wrong? I'm not using the brake and I'm keeping tire slip down working on being smooth. I feel like I'm getting it when I keep my times in the low 42's. I just can't seem to get below that, no matter what I do. I hear stories about wheel settings, etc.., but? I'd really like to stay on the lead lap, that's all I'm asking, Andy
USteppin 2 Report post Posted March 24, 2012 Not sure how much the G27 and T500 options differ but changing my settings to these drastically changed everything for me.
Yokel 4 Report post Posted March 24, 2012 once again, i'm the only one who doesn't run FF. but i do have to go into the garage and set the steering box to 14:1 and even that can get squirrelly sometimes. Found out today that the truck will stick to the bottom of the track if you smash in the right front pretty good. but it won't go as fast.
Zulu0001 1 Report post Posted March 24, 2012 Yokel, I had that happen to me too.. what wheel do you use? I've searched all over the place for good seetings. Here are my current T500 RS settings, Andy
USteppin 2 Report post Posted March 25, 2012 For TR500 driver. Rotation : 900°. Master : 50%. Constant : 100%. Periodic : 100%. Spring : 100%. Damper : 100%. Auto-centering spring : by the game. Is what the thread I was reading says for your wheel: http://members.iracing.com/jforum/posts ... 00238.page Make sure to recalibrate the wheel in the game after changing any settings. I tried your settings and WOW I can feel the track much better. Ran the practice race on Sunday to test the settings out and ran into a spun out truck early in the race. Finally ran a full race on Tuesday night. Wheel settings feel good and I was able to stay on the lead lap not far behind the racing group. I made it through a two vehicle crash to my surprise. A Class B driver was kind enough to drop back and give me a few pointers. Of course he could and did fly right by me then he came back and let me pass him for 4th place. I didn't catch his name but thanks a bunch buddy. I'm getting mostly mid 42's and a few upper 41's now and feeling a lot better. Who knows I may be able to hang in there on the 31st…… Thanks guys, Andy
