TomHaake 0 Report post Posted July 1, 2011 Here we take a look at the new and improved Nixim pedal mod for the Logitech G25 and G27. Watch to see what they've added and if it's worth it!
jam1e 0 Report post Posted July 2, 2011 Hey, how would you rate the nixim2 mod agasint CST pedals, say if the CST were a 10 and cost wasn't a factor?
Beyondtool 0 Report post Posted July 2, 2011 Thanks for the review, I impulse purchased them straight away. Will post my thoughts once I fit them to my G25 pedals.
aj33 0 Report post Posted July 4, 2011 I had been on the fence about buying some type of brake mod for a while now. I didn't realize Nixim came out with a version 2. Once I saw the review, I also bought one right away. I know you weren't big fans of the new Nixim clutch spring but do you prefer it over the stock clutch spring? I'm just wondering if I should bother replacing the clutch spring or not upon arrival. Thanks!
Beef36 28 Report post Posted July 17, 2011 Hey guys, Nice review. After watching it, I went off to the website and bought one to check out, as it's so cheap. Seemingly so did a lot of other Logitech G25/G27 owners, as last week there was a huge backlog of orders. Shows the power of a very positive review

Verdict is still out on the clutch which I honestly don't use much when racing competitively. There's only a few cars that require it. Sorry for the late reply.. Did you try it yourself ? Shows the power of a very positive review Hi Beef, I heard from them that they sold out the weekend of the review of all on hand stock.. Dave at NIXIM told me they are ordering plenty more though to fill all the orders. It's worth every penny !
NIXIM 0 Report post Posted July 22, 2011 Hi guys, Just a comment on the clutch, What I was looking for is the feel of an initial lose pedal with a slight pre tention which was achieved. And then the limitations of the basic design start to tell, as commented on by Tom in the review, and that is the lack of pedal movement overall. This actually is not a big problem with the brake, but a little more clutch pedal travel feels more familiar to most folk, as it is the present Nixim spring gives the feel of a sharp racing clutch, which need to really match the software settings to feel really good. The two halfs of the red plastic spring housings only actually close by 30mm when you press the pedal fully. So to get the full range of the feel of a clutch pedal in such a short distance is very difficult. I can understand why some feel it is maybe a little stiff, and that is because all of the testing was done in our own chassis which easily allows you to fully press the pedals without too much effort. I noticed in the review the driving demonstration was done in a chassis that had a more upright seating position and it did not seem so easy to fully press the clutch with ease. So I guess we need to modify the spring here. the difficulty then is to get a rapid contrast in feel that the driver can register with his foot. There are many prototype springs that we tested to get to where we are now and dual stage springs are surprisingly difficult to get right in the way we would like them to be. Because as you change one feature of the spring - it has a detrimental effect on the rest of the spring so you have to change that too - which in turn affects the bit you changed first, this is all very difficult and frustrating. And to make matters worse you sometimes come up to the limitations of the basic spring material, which means starting all over again with a different grade of spring steel. By now you are pulling your hair out. So I have an idea for the clutch spring which I'll run by our suppliers, they are on holiday now so I don't know if it will work but give us some time and a little more feedback and I'm sure we can improve things for most people. Also as Tom tried out in the review, we get quite a few requests to do a heavier accelerator (or gas pedal to you guys) so we are looking into that too. Defcon Won 1 Report post Posted July 23, 2011 I'd love to hear what you come up with, I use the clutch almost all the time. I'll be ordering regardless, but would like to see what you mean.
Beyondtool 0 Report post Posted August 1, 2011 Well mine finally arrived on Friday, looks like I missed the first batch of orders, but damn it ordered straight away! I actually re-adjusted my pedals after fitting as I have a custom home built frame which allows them to hang upside down (I'm not a handyman but if I can do it so can you!). I adjusted the angle of the pedals to point further forwards and modified the height using my own car as a guide (this is a personal thing and I recommend anyone spend some time getting their own setup right). I took 1/2 cm off the rubber insert inside the Nixim mod as I found the brake just a little too keen. I also found the suggested settings on the website are perfect for this mod, 75% brake saturation and 35% brake deadzone was spot on for me. If you think about it this means you are losing a lot of travel on an already short pedal system but, with the brakes at least, the increase in feel more than makes up for the loss of distance. Maybe the next mod could change the whole pedal recoil to make the travel longer..but that's probably getting too much into engineering an entire pedal though Didn't try the clutch ingame, but I wasn't a fan of the feel when I swapped it over so left the stock clutch spring in. I think there's just not enough travel for the clutch and the spring just doesn't give a "clutch" feel that's worth losing any travel over. Needs to snap back faster like a real clutch and I'm not sure if a spring is going to be able to give that kind of feel without being really heavy. There is a fair bit of recoil on the nixim mod so I had to add a support strut to stop my frame moving forwards when I braked. But, get this, it feels like a real brake. A short brake like my old 90s Suzuki Swift , but nevertheless it has a solid feel. It also didn't tire my feet using socks after 6hrs racing, I found the pedals mounted upside down are far more comfortable than the standard facing Logitech setup. That said if you have not hard mounted your pedals, you are going to have to for this mod, otherwise they are going to run over carpet, your floor, etc. After 6hrs racing (and it was an incredible six hours, until wifey told me to go to bed) I can honestly say it's made a solid difference to the feel of the brake and my driving performance. I was struggling on the second highest tier of Dirt 3 and since this mod I am going back and achieving gold on almost all of the races I have struggled with for the last month. I don't think I realised how critical natural brake control was to my game. Definately a Must buy. Oh, and to add to the point about "muscle memory"... I am now using the muscles in my whole leg due to the increased brake resistance (instead of just my foot), which results in far more precise control over the movement the pedal. Joe Berkett 70 Report post Posted June 4, 2013 Hi Team I've got all the Nixim springs installed in my G27 pedals and it's so much better than the stock ones. The brake pedal feels great with the rubber block but I plan to get the ARC one in the future. The gas pedal I think could be a little softer and after turning a few laps I put the stock clutch spring in and I think that goes great. The Nixim clutch spring is really nice because when you push down it is hard initially and then gets softer like a real clutch pedal but I thing the initial push could be a little softer. Overall, its a good idea to buy these if you are on a low budget and can't afford a load cell.
