Force Feed Back in Forza 3

8 posts in this topic

I've just upgraded from a DFGT to a Fanatec GT2 so for the first time i've been able to play Forza 3 with a wheel and i'm very disapointed with the effects felt through the wheel. It seems you can't turn the wheel more than 40 degrees or the car just goes into uncontrolable understeer and its the same with lift of over steer its way too much. I've been told that turn 10 dumbed down the wheek so pad users could compete. Is there any settings to change to make it better on the wheel or in game. my current settings are ffb-100, sh-100, spr-1, dam-3 and sens 520 degrees :D

Hi Hennessey have you tryed 900 degrees of rotation on your GT2 with forza 3 because that's what I run on mine and It's fine there and forza has a steering issue If you dont set your degrees of rotation (sen) to 270,540 or 900 because those were the default presets on the old turbo s when it came out back in 2009

That's odd. I never had any issues with Forza3 with my GT2, from the very get go it was awesomely setup, I didn't feel like I had to change anything.

Could you post your settings ? I suffer from amazing understeer with GT2, but on the pad its perfect.

I have found that on my GT2 it is very hard to feel the rumble strips and other "shock" effects with the FF setting too high. I have my FF setting on the wheel at 70 and 100 in the game.

If you are suffering from understeer; in that your car doesn't seem to turn sharp enough when you turn the wheel. Then, try a smaller wheel sensitivity setting. I you use SEN of 900 on the wheel, then you have to turn the wheel much further to get the car to turn in the game. Likewise, if you use a smaller SEN setting on the wheel like 270, you have to turn the wheel much less to get the car to turn in the game.

I personally prefer low sensitivity settings because I feel like I can react faster when I don't have to turn the wheel as far. However, you might lose a little bit of precision on the wheel with smaller sensitivity settings.

Another useful tidbit I learned from another forum thread is that on the GT2 if you use the ABS feature to make the wheel vibrate when the brakes lock, then other "shock" effects in the game may not work. I'm not sure why this is, but I keep my ABS at 0 on the wheel so that I get full shock effects in the game.

The only thing that I find a little different with the GT2 (and this could be my settings) is that with my old Microsoft Wheel, I had immediate and clear feedback when I started losing the backend in an oversteer. With the GT2 wheel, I have to rely more on the screen to know when my car is oversteering. I do feel a jerk in the wheel when the tires hook up again, but the initial oversteer doesn't seem to give me hardly any feedback in the wheel. I would expect the wheel to go loose when the backend breaks lose, simulating how the wheels of your car tend to want to follow the direction your backend is skidding.

If anyone has suggestions about making the wheel more sensitive to oversteer feedback, that would be much appreciated!!

Do you have a link to this information by any chance ?

I tried searching for it, but I'm not finding it. The search engine on the forum could be much better. It appears you can only search in ALL CAPS. I couldn't get it to let me enter lowercase characters in the search.
