The final race of Season 33 is upon us. Round twelve of the North American Grand Prix Thursday night GT series takes place this evening at the challenging Bathurst Circuit in Australia.

Salem Montgomery Jr. left Brazil last week victorious after a brilliant performance put forth at Interlagos grabbing pole position and leading all but one lap in last weeks race. The story of the race however was what happened behind Montgomery Jr. as the top two drivers in the drivers championship, Peter Szabo and Kevin Kirkbride, ran afoul of the stewards and were assessed ballast penalties entering tonight's final round for several incidents that took place in the closing laps of the race. The wild finish set the table for what is sure to be a spectacular final race of the season tonight at Bathurst.

The drivers championship stands as follows; Kevin Kirkbride enters tonight's final round with 175 championship points and 10kg of penalty ballast on board. Peter Szabo sits second, five points behind the leader and straddled with 40kg of penalty weight. In third, six points behind, is Zack Hefner, who carries 60kg of success ballast.

In the team championship, it's down to two teams vying for the title. Podium Hunters Kevin Kirkbride and Zack Hefner lead with 344 points. RPM Extreme's Peter Szabo and Salem Montgomery Jr. are second with 305 points.

Join Jake Feimster and Jack Ivy on NAGPTV for tonight's final round at Bathurst which begins at 9pm eastern. The racing starts with 25 minutes of open qualifying followed immediately after by the 250km race.

Bathurst is a track that demands respect. For the drivers involved in the championship, any small mistake or lapse in concentration can dash any hope of winning the title.
