The North American Grand Prix Thursday night GT series travels to Japan this evening for round ten of the championship as the series makes its first ever visit to the Okayama International Circuit.

Kevin Kirkbride snagged his fourth win of the season last week at Laguna Seca inching closer towards his first GT drivers championship. Kirkbride scored maximum points for the round after taking pole position ahead of his closest rival in the drivers championship, Peter Szabo, by a tenth of a second and followed that up by leading the most laps in the win. The Lamborghini powered teams took the top three spots on the podium as Kirkbrides teammate, Zack Hefner, finished six second behind his teammate in second. Brad Merys fended off a hard charging Eiran Parsons in the Nissan to take third and complete the Lamborghini Sweep of the podium. Peter Szabo, who ran second in the McLaren for much of the race, backed off to near the end of the race to save weight rather than take the points for second. A move that left many viewers bewildered.

After nine rounds, Kevin Kirkbride leads the drivers championship with 158 points. Peter Szabo is second with 137 points, just ahead of Zack Hefner in third with 135 points.

After finishing one-two last week, Podium Hunters Kevin Kirkbride and Zack Hefner extended their lead in the team championship to 47 points over RPM Extreme's Peter Szabo and Salem Montgomery Jr. 293 to 246. Precision Motor Racing's Eiran Parsons and Chris Moses move into third with 164 points.

Join NAGPTV this evening for complete coverage of round ten at Okayama. The broadcast begins at 9pm eastern with qualifying followed immediately after by the 200km race.

Okayama is a new venue for the drivers this season. The McLaren's are looking strong in the practice leading into tonight's race. We'll see if Szabo's decision to carry less weight into tonight's event was a wise one.
