The North American Grand Prix open wheel series moves to England this evening for round six of the championship from the historic 1967 layout of Silverstone.

After two straight DNF's, Philippe Simard got back to his winning ways last week at Spa-Francorchamps '66 finishing just ahead of Kevin Kirkbride in one of the most dramatic finishes we've seen this season. Simard's night got off to a positive start after grabbing pole position by 1.6 seconds over second place Kirkbride. Simard's pace in qualifying led the viewers to believe that this race would be walk in the park but within the first few laps, it was clear that those behind Simard had the pace to challenge the Canadian for the win. Kirkbride, driving with 60kg of success ballast, kept the gap to Simard to within five seconds of the leader throughout the first stint. Kirkbride, who elected to pit much later than the leader, rejoined the race just one second behind Simard after a quick pit stop. With the race on its final lap, Kirkbride managed to get a run on Simard and overtook the leader as they approached Blanchimont. Exiting Blanchimont, Kirkbride ran his Ferrari just wide enough to slow his momentum and allow Simard back past. Kirkbride took one last stab at an overtake entering La Source but left his braking just a bit too late and was not able to complete the maneuver. Simard took the checkered flag 1.5 seconds ahead of Kirkbride for his third win in six races. Eiran Parsons finished on the final step of the podium for his best result thus far this season. Truly a great show put on by the front runners in an action packed race.

After five rounds, Kevin Kirkbride is our championship leader with 103 points. Zack Hefner is second with 87 points and Philippe Simard is third with 79 points.

In the team championship, Kevin Kirkbride and Zack Hefner of Podium hunters continue their dominance on Monday night's with 190 points. The French Connection's Phillipe Simard and Ian Jolicoeur are second with 142 points. TBROKDAMBAM's Eiran Parsons and John Houston are a distant third with 93 points.
