fermit007 8 Report post Posted January 10, 2015 hi all. just starting to play forza 5 with the tx wheel,th8a shifter and t500rs pedals.Started using manual gears with clutch using the h gate,at the start of the race before i even put it in gear there is a grinding noise like i am shifting but not pressing the clutch pedal even tho i am not touching the shifter, the noise occurs if i press the clutch and release it.Has anyone else had this issue? Please help as it was kinda pointless buying the shifter if i cant use it with the clutch pedal tho i do not have the same problem in horizon 2. thanks
ApexVGear 207 Report post Posted January 10, 2015 Before the countdown begins, I have the TH8A in first, and the clutch pedal pushed in. Then I release the clutch and press the throttle to get started. I think you can even get away with releasing the clutch and pressing on the throttle early, then Forza "releases" the car and engages the drive. Check your assists settings. There is a manual and manual with clutch setting. I set it to manual for sequential shifting cars (stick or paddles), and manual with clutch for cars with regular shifters. Also, check your "control" settings, and look for deadzone and saturation settings. Everything on mine is set to 0 deadzone and 100% saturation (I think that's the correct terminology for Forza 5--too many sims to keep track).
fermit007 8 Report post Posted January 10, 2015 Thanks the reply I will have a look tomorrow after work.Just thought it was a bit strange as it should only make that noise when you are actually pushing the gearlever into position not when the clutch is released and the car is in neutral.thanks again
kwakaman39 23 Report post Posted January 10, 2015 I am sure you have done it but make sure the TX has at least the V47 firmware update. Should be V48 now. I have TX and TH8A but CSP V2 pedals. Will check mine next time I put the H plate back on. Currently running sequential with auto clutch enabled in races. Still get the odd grind even when in auto clutch when using paddles when the TH8A is plugged in. As long as you are not picking up damage in game I wouldn't worry about it. edit,, press mode+A button to activate auto clutch on base.
fermit007 8 Report post Posted January 11, 2015 Yeah am on firmware v47,thought I would wait to see if there were issues with v48 before installing it.have tried it in sequential mode with auto clutch and I think its good for race cars but I do like using the clutch for certain road cars. Will update firmware when I get home from work later.thanks for the reply
