First time build looking for components

6 posts in this topic

Well, I'm running an extremely strong pc for gaming and working (SLi titans, 3930k, rampage iv BE, xonar xense) and I'm really wanting to get into sim racing on my pc primarily for project cars, been looking forward to release ever since I found out about it, but I was too late to back it.  I also want to be sure I'm compatible with ps3 and ps4 for gran turismo, which I've played all my life with a controller anyways.

So my current parts list is this:
t300 rs wheel  400$

t3pa for added clutch and compatibility with consoles  100$

th8a also for console and required because no shifter is included with t300rs  120$

playseat Alacantra with shifter mount  400$

if anyone knows of a comparable set that is compatible with ps4 and ps3 and pc, please let me know.

Lastly, I've been looking at play seat cockpits (about 400$ price range) and I noticed that the gear holder is only for logitech's shifters.  Does anyone know of something comparable to the playseat Alacantra but has a compatible mount for the th8a?  Is the th8a already compatible?  I'm really a first time buyer and I'm looking to get the most out of a ~1000$ sim peripheral build.  Any help would be amazing.  Thanks in advance.

There is currently only one wheel (t300) for ps4. Fanatec is working on compatability ATM. The t300 is probably your best bet atm.

For a playseat you could save a bunch of money and build one

I just looked at my playseat shifter mount and th8a (neither of which I use anymore, and I never used the th8a with the playseat but instead with my second seat, more about that below) and it looks like you will have to drill four holes in the playseat mount in order to attach that shifter.  You might be able to somehow use the shifter's table clap to mount it, but drilling the holes for a direct mount looks like the best way to do it.

My first rig was the playseat evolution forza.  I stopped using it and got the second generation r-Seat because the center post of the playseat made driving with a clutch uncomfortable.  There are lots of folks out there who use the playseat and don't have an issue with the center post.  But if you're looking at spending $400, my advice would be to look at some other seats that don't have a center post design, even if that takes you up the price range.  Take a look at the Sim Seat:  http://shop.sim-seats.com/SR-X-Driving-Simulator-SS-20-SRX.htm It's a little above your price range, but you won't have to worry about how that center post may affect you.

Because of the cost of shipping a seat, selling one you're not satisfied with is difficult.  That's why my playseat sits in the attic.

IF I was you I would take serious look at the 0butt0 0zone rig. It is at your price range $399.00+ shipping. They have came up some since I bought mine. These units are Very, Very, very customizable! You do anything to them to fit YOU the way you want it. I wouldn't take for mine...... I hope this might help you out some.

G00D Day.

that sim seat is really cool.  I think I might just lay down the extra money.  I also checked out the Ozone and I really like it, it is also pretty cool that it doubles as a desk.  Issue is I have multiple unmatched displays.  If I can somehow adjust the displays without undoing mounts, then it has my preference.  -thank you for finding something priced similar, that is really uncanny.  I'm so glad I asked and thank you guys so much for responding.
