setup on a budget

4 posts in this topic

Hi guys I am 14 and have gotten my first proper wheel for Christmas. A Logitech G27, and for the last week or so been messing around with Dirt 3 on my Desk, and need some sort of wheel stand. However as you can imagine I'm on a budget. All i have is my Christmas money which is about £130. I don't want to spend all of this, i would really want to spend about £60 ($100). I need a few things though, My office chair moves around a lot when I race, I need some way to fix this maybe some new wheels with locks, and i need a right hand drive setup, gear stick on the left, as that what most cars here have. Also it would be great if I could get some suggestions on ways to setup a hand/e brake. thinking about have some sort of bike brake connected to an old keyboard. any suggestions would be great thanks.

Welcome to ISR

A friend got a gt omega wheel stand, managed to get a discount because it was a returned one with a few scratches must of been an unwanted gift so if your not fussed on scratches you can try your way and getting one of the returns for around £70. or buy it out brand new they are going for £90 on there website im sure you could get it cheaper but here is the link. http://www.gtomegaracing.com/gt-omega-steering-wheel-stand

With hand brake that's a hole different thread, and it's not as easy as hooking a brake up to a key, if anything that handbrake will snap it in half haha. you may get more look in the peripherals section a lot of posts on brakes there.

cheers!

thanks for the link, says out of stock have seen these on ebay though, and as for the brake i was thinking more like a push bike brake, so it wouldn't apply much force at all.

You could get some help and save a bunch by building one. For around 100 US Dollars you could build one out of wood. Don't know what the conversion to pounds would be though. Check out dig rig on inside Sim racing on YouTube they made one
