Confused over whether pc specifications are good enough.

I'm not an IT person and although i have spent time researching I am lost in a maze of AMD/Intel, Quad/six core, Nvidia/Radeon let alone everything else.

I would like to run iRacing at high fps and at a decent graphics setting and maybe Assetto Corsa as well.

Would a Lenovo desktop with these specs be up to the job?

Ethernet Port Information YES

Graphics card Information NVIDIA GeForce GT 720, 2GB

Graphics card type Information Dedicated

Hard drive Information 1TB hard drive

Memory (RAM) Information 8GB Memory

Operating system Information Windows 8.1 (64 Bit)

Ports Information 6x USB 2.0, 2x USB 3.0, 1x HDMI, 1x VGA

Processor Information Quad-core Intel Core i7-4790

Processor speed Information 3.6GHz to 4.0GHz with Turbo Boost

Any help is really appreciated. Thank you

Yes. This is a good PC for sim racing, but my concern is the graphics card.

You don't need i7 CPU, the i5 CPU is good.

If you switch to the cheaper CPU then you could go with the GTX series.

GTX 650 $79

or

GTX 750 $128

Like Darin mentioned it really depends if you plan to move to triple screens.

If I had a bit of "extra" cash I would add 16gig memory but this can be added any time in the future.

I like intel processor & n-vidia graphics cards, but this is really personal opinion.

Thank you both very much for this.

I'll upgrade the graphics card. Subject to that though, it seems to be a good base from which to start.

Back in the day I was heavily into Grand Prix Legends so I'm looking forward to seeing how far things have come since then!

I'm happy to help.

My spec's using triple screen I built  18 months ago which run iRacing with no problems.

i5 3670k

16 gig ram

nvidia GTX 670

700 watts power supply

It runs Assetto Corsa & Project cars OK, but you must turn down quality a bit on triple screens. 5760 * 1080

This is the first PC I built myself and it was very, very easy.... I don't think you always save money, but you build a better system overall.

The most important point is you buy an off the shelf system which supports add on graphics cards. Many cheap small form factor PC's don't PCI express expansion cards for "good quality graphics card in the future".

I still run GPL, on a much lower spec, laptop, HDMI. Out to 50 inch panel, in front of my next level rig and g27, GPL was way ahead of its time, awesome,

My laptop won't run F1 2014. So I use a PS3 for that, but I'm now looking at a gaming tower build, keep my laptop for my everyday stuff, but put the tower next to my rig for gaming, still need keyboard/ mouse, but way cheaper than a laptop,

Have some great systems customizable to suit.

Good luck.

BTW , I'm building an Intel i5,think its 4650 ?(maybe 4690) 16 gb ram, but I'm going to push the boat on a Nvidea gtx970, more money, but I'm told it's the GPU that does the work.

Saving a bit on i5 not i7, in a basic tower,

I'm really hoping that the PC experience is more " realistic" than the PS3, I have a PS4 , but had it a year, so far it's a paper weight, they promised everything, and created very little, in fact up to recently, nothing, for car sim. And now they tell me it won't support the g27, that's final straw, PC is where I'm going.

Also planning the occulas rift.

A quick update.

I'm on track and currently testing Game Stock Car.

The first thing I had to do was forget the Xbox way of driving, the level of concentration needed on GSC is a lot more in my opinion.

I'm using default car set-up just to get acclimatised.

Perhaps the hardest thing is to keep from going as fast as possible straight away but just to concentrate on putting in a good run of clean laps.

Pleased to have a bit more grip than I remember in Grand Prix Legends.

Taking some time to calibrate the wheel the way I like it as well, but it's getting there!
