It actually doesn't look that bad.  The environment looks pretty good.  Any chance for a first person (in-car) view?

Thanks. Yes, there's a cockpit view (a must-have according to me  ) - I'm just not yet entirely satisfied how the in-car camera behaves. It will be shown in future gameplay videos.

Here's a brand new gameplay trailer showcasing the car-chase part of the game:

https://vimeo.com/151343852

Had a tough time recording this because the NPC's are starting to drive better than me eek.gifclear.png while maintaining a drunk-aggressive and risky driving style. Hooray!

(I'm really motivated on getting this right because personally, I find it disappointing, how easy it is to escape NPC's (cops, villains) in most open-world "driving games" (GTA, Mafia, TDU..). Although those games do compensate with quantity over quality, and cheating on the physics, the car chases don't feel genuine at all).

Compared to the versions from last year, the physics are now back to simulation mode (tire friction was at 1.2, now it's back on 1.0). Rewrote completely the steering and braking behavior and did some minor work on the graphics.

The tech demo is finally out! The game has been renamed to "BEWARE" and you can download it from here: https://www.indiedb.com/games/beware/downloads/beware-demo

For now it's quite bare-bones but represents fairly well what the driving aspect in the full game might feel like. Input is keyboard only - the full game will have controller and wheel support.

Default controls are oldschool (arrows) but you can change that inside the configuration window under the "input" tab. Be warned that there is no loading screen so when you press "PLAY" it will seem like nothing is happening - just be patient and let the game load - first-time loading can take quite a while. Also please read the readme text in the downloaded folder.

There's a ton of videos on YT of people playing the game - if you're interested in doing the one mission included in the demo, here's a video I recorded  that might help [spoiler warning]: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Gb4qVZW69lM&t=4s

Have a nice trip, and be sure to check your rear-view mirror once in a while :)
