Carrera Cup 2015: Archive (rFactor, Flat6 Enduracers)

671 posts in this topic

TouringProSeries has taken the step of teaming up with SimSyncPro. This means that for the Virtual Carrera Cup, the custom liveries, mod and tracks needed for this series will only be available through this software. Updates will be easily available at a click of a button.

Instructions

Step #1

  • Make a fresh installation of rFactor. If you don't do this, you may have some unnecessary issues. The best way to do this is download rFactor Lite and install it, naming the installation folder 'VCC15'. It is also recommended to install anywhere but Program Files, such as C:\Games.
  • Once this is done, in order to keep your personal settings, go into your previous/existing rFactor installation, go to the 'UserData' folder and copy the folder that has your name on it into the exact same location in your new rFactor installation.
  • Do the same with the 'Controller' folder.

Step #2

  • Download the TPS SimSync Pro archive.
  • After the download has finished, put only the two SimSync files found in this archive into your new main rFactor folder. Ignore the RealFeel file.
  • Click on SimSyncPro.exe to launch the program. An auto-updater might pop up, in that case, let it do the update.

Step #3

  • You'll then see the 'Virtual Carrera Cup 2015' series. Select only this, via the tick box, then press 'Start'.
  • Synchronisation is now under way and a message will pop-up to confirm the list of files. Click 'OK' and another notification will appear when the synchronisation is complete.
  • Once synchronisation is complete you can start rFactor.

Troubleshooting

Q. SimSyncPro is having problems starting
A. Make sure to right-click SimSyncPro and 'run as Administrator'

Q. SimSyncPro starts in German and I do not understand German.
A. You can select your preferred language by clicking 'Optionen', then scrolling to 'Sprache' and selecting your desired language.

Q. I am having difficulty downloading in SimSync
A. Try checking the 'Prefer Main Server' option under Options. Try switching from FTP to HTTP connection or vice versa.

Q. I get some sort of '550' error.
A. Keep trying, eventually this problem corrects itself or see above.

Q. Sync terminates with 'error' on last file.
A. Simply start sync again, it will sync only the last file.

Q. I have a mismatch or am booted as 'possible cheat'
A. You should execute SimSyncPro before joining every event

If you have any questions, please post in the SimSync support thread.

Race Day Schedule

All events consist of two races of 70km, back to back on the same evening, as follows:

  • Practice: all days prior to event
  • Qualifying 1: 1800GMT
  • Warmup 1: 1810GMT
  • Race 1: 1818GMT
  • Warmup 2: 1848GMT (circa)
  • Race 2: 1856GMT (circa)

Race two grids are decided by race one results, with between 6 and 10 positions reversed. This is decided by the final number of the total race winning time from race one. '1' or '2' meaning 6 positions reversed, all the way up to '9' or '0' meaning 10 positions reversed.

Throughout the season, UK is GMT, while CET is GMT+1, meaning race one will start at 1818UK and 1918CET. US Eastern Time will be GMT-5 throughout, while Oceanians will have to double check their own timezones, but will be around GMT+8-11.

All times are approximate, and especially for the second stage of the event, times may fluctuate by 5-10 minutes. Sessions will never start early.

Formation Lap Details
Virtual Carrera Cup will feature a formation lap, with a subsequent standing start, at all events. Guidelines are as follows:

  • Weaving, hard braking, hard acceleration and general tyre warming behaviour is allowed, but be careful while doing so. There is nothing so frustratingly stupid than ruining yours and other's races on the formation lap.
  • rFactor will notify you of the formation lap.
  • Anybody who spins out during the formation lap will be able to resume their position but must be extremely cautious while moving back through the field, flashing their lights if necessary. This is the only time excessive flashing of lights may be used.
  • The leader's speed may not exceed 130kph/80mph during the formation lap, and cannot dip below 80kph/50mph for any extended period of time.
  • Drivers are asked to keep a reasonable distance from the car ahead.
  • The formation lap is not part of the race distance, so factor this into your fuel requirements
  • As you come round to the grid at the end of your formation lap, your grid slot will be marked by a red square, make sure to hit your marks as accurately as possible.
  • The race will not start until all cars are lined up correctly.
  • For those waiting, there is no message to inform that the race is beginning, so keep your attention firmly on the start lights.

Server Allocation

PreQualification will only apply should we receive 45 sign-ups or more. Otherwise, the entry list will be decided on a driver by driver basis with the following factors taken into account, with 36 drivers present in the only division:

  • Experience within the entire TPS umbrella of leagues
  • Conduct within TPS leagues, but conduct in other leagues will be taken into consideration
  • Historical records of attendance and commitment to league
  • Whether a custom livery has been sent
  • Driver ability (one-lap pace, race pace and racing ability)

PreQualification

Should PreQualification be necessary, the above system will be ignored. PreQualification will then take place on Kinnekulle Ring between 31 October 00:00GMT & 02 November 23:59GMT.

Dependent on numbers, each server will be total 32 drivers. There must be at least 60 entries confirmed before a second server will be considered and 90 for a third server etc. PreQualification will determine the line-up of the servers for the first event only

Each section of the 32 drivers will be placed in order of their prequalification into each server. Any driver who qualifies outside the size of the servers allocated (be it 32 or 64 or 96) or does not set a time will be placed on the reserve list to take the place of any driver who is absent for any reason. If there is a tie for 32nd or 64th place, then the driver who completed the least amount of laps will be favoured.

  • The PreQualification server will be implemented with a Live Timing system, where drivers can check their times and their positions against their rivals throughout the prequalification in real time
  • PreQualifying does not absolutely guarantee your place in the season; previous commitment (or lack of it) will be taken into account.

Server allocations from after round one onwards will be set by the championship standings - the top 32 drivers in the overall championship prior to an event will compete in group one for each event, this is made possible by an overlap in the divisional points. In case of absence, drivers will move up in championship order from group two to group one, and from the reserves to group two, etc etc. In event of a tie of points (drivers on minus points are classed as equivalent to 0), PreQualification results, then a driver's best result will be used to determine their allocation position. If there is a still a tie, the date of sign-up will be the final deciding factor.

There is an exception to this rule however. Drivers who finish inside the top 16 during prequalification will be immune from relegation to group two, regardless of championship standings, until after round two. Those who prequalify in the top 8 will be exempt from relegation for the first three rounds.

TouringProSeries Regulations available here.

It is each driver's duty to ensure that they familiarise themselves with the rules and are fully prepared for each race, especially for the opening round. Mods, tracks, servers, briefings and passwords are posted well in advance via SimSync or the forum and are there for everyone to make sure they understand. Practice servers will also be live as much as possible, allowing everybody to test out their vehicles, that their software and hardware are woking as they should, and to get to know one another.

Entry to Virtual Carrera Cup 2015 is completely free.
