Best simulation platform for Formula 1 simulation/mod

9 posts in this topic

Hello,

I am new to the forum but have been watching the YouTube videos for some time. Great work from InsideSimRacing!

I would like to know what is the best simulation engine/platform to play Formula 1 on a PC.

I have heard of iRacing and rFactor but not sure which is the most realistic.

Maybe you can shed some light.

Thanks,

Luis

Hey welcome to ISR!.

For formula/open wheelers Gamestockcar EXTREME is your best option Formula Reiza & Formula Extrmeme being the Reiza Studios take on formula one without breaking the rules. And by rules using anything to do with Formula 1 from names, logos, cars anything FIA as Codemasters holds the f1 license. There are f1 mods out there for rfactor but majoirty of them have been removed because f1 modding is now illegal iRacing offers your skip barber and star mazda etc but i think GSCextreme is your best option, also find a nice little league to join ;)

I'll second that GSC Extreme is a great sim for F1 style racing. I believe DRS is available as well in the sim. If you care more about graphics and eye candy than pure simulation though, the F1 titles by Codemasters are the way to go.

Hi Buddy, I'm a total F1 nut myself....rarely do I race anything else on my PC other than open wheelers!! And can totally agree that GSC extreme is the way to go....it's not the prettiest game out there (codemasters have the eye candy with their F1 titles but as Paradox says.....they're not sim racers, they're more arcade racers with a slight hint of sim).

I've only been playing GSC extreme for a few weeks....but I'm hooked on the Formula V12 & the Fomula Classics, the physics are second to none.......and to be honest, if you turn the eye candy settings up (depending on what GPU u have of course) it's not a bad looking game....but trust me, you soon forget about the crowd, and the stands when your racing....it's all about you, the cockpit and the track!!! It's epic..........trust me!! ;)

If you haven't looked into the F1 mod on Assetto, You have NO CLUE what your missing out on,   Merc, Lotus and Ferrari are availible now, I think Williams is next up.

PS Scratch that, went to get you a link and appears there was a cat fight in the team and the mods are no longer availible (PM me i have it saved)

I fifth, sixth or seventh GSC (I don't know how many people recommended it so far)

All the Formula cars in GSC are great to drive and you can download heaps of mod maps (Like I am just going to try the 1990 F1 tracks with the Formula V12 (a mid-90's F1 car)

There are f1 mods out there for rfactor but majoirty of them have been removed because f1 modding is now illegal...

Does this include going after 3rd=party folk who create mods, offical add-ons, or both?

That's what I thought. Thanks Ricky.

I'm more or less in the same boat with regards to licensing for train sims. Fortunately, however, it hasn't come to "exclusives" just yet.
