Stepping it up

6 posts in this topic

Hi there, I am new to the forum and haven't posted on any forums for a while so please bare with me!

I have been a fan of driving/racing games since I can remember, starting on classics such as Outrun and Ayrton Senna's Super Monaco GP II!  After playing GT5 on my brothers DFGT I had to have a wheel so a few years ago I got myself a Fanatec CSR wheel, pedals and shifter (the cross platform appealed as I play Forza 4, GT & PC games/sims).

I have recently upgraded my pedals to the CSP V2's which are amazing and am now wanting to step it up and do more sim 'racing' as opposed to playing games on the consoles.

I am finding myself a little lost when it comes to where to go next;  I have signed up to iRacing but was quickly put off by the cos of content and general membership fees and also it seems to be more US motor sport oriented.  I have been addicted to Assetto Corsa lately but when it comes to multiplayer I find myself sat in the pits wondering what the hell is going on!

Can anyone please help give me a little guidance and perhaps tell me how you guys went about starting up.

Thanks

Warren

Hello welcome to ISR!

If iRacing isn't for you then try buy rFactor 2 and GSCExtreme, obviously they both use the same engine but both offer different features and GSC is more open to modding i have several British tracks from the BTCC season and you will find many mods also. rfactor 1 is still a really good title with a few tweaks and plenty of content to keep you going lots of British racing cars and tracks. If you wan't to race online then a league would be the best bet try race2play.com :)

Welcome!  You might also post in the ISR/assetto corsa thread and get invited to that group.  Lots of members and really good guys at the helm.  They're trying to get some activities going and are always looking for people who want to be involved.

Take care and have fun!

Dave

Thanks for the replies.  I'll give rfactor2 a go as I am an avid BTCC fan so love the UK short circuits.

Just started watching the BTCC, Went to Donington this year and it was awesome, i think i might be heading to Silverstone in September to watch it again  MY BTCC POST

You will love rfactor 2 for the BTCC tracks  bare in mind they are mods they are really good.

It really is the old fashioned British motor sport at it's best; what F1 used to be!  I'll always love F1, but £26 for a full days race programme where you can talk to drivers, can't beat the BTCC.  I've done BH, Oulton Park and may well be at SIlverstone next month!

I've downloaded the rFactor2 demo, maybe it's because I am so used to Assetto Corsa but first impressions weren't good; I really need to set down and set up my Fanatec gear, sometimes I wish I just didn't have to set the wheel up!

I'll check out what mods are available.

Thanks again mate
