Trying to get started

Hi all, I'm about to build my first sim racing setup so I have a couple of question to ask you. The first one is of course "What's the best I can buy for my budget?". Well my budget is something around 1500€ which is around 1700$. I already have a good pc that can easly run Assetto Corsa with max settings at 50-60fps. The problem is: if I choose a triple monitor setup I have to add another gpu, which is a GTX770, and if I get another gpu I also have to upgrade my psu so it would kill the budget to 1100€ (2 additional monitors not included). My idea is to get a bigger tv screen, like 40" full hd screen and keep my current video card and psu. So this is my second question: triple screen setup or one single big tv screen?

P.S. This is what I was thinking for the sim hardware: T500RS + Fanatec ClubSport Pedals V2 +Fanatec ClubSport Shifter, along with the ButtKicker and of course a Play Seat.

Let me know what do you think :D

Welcomes scame,

Going all in from the start it appears. Just a couple observations though. You ask for advise about triple monitors vs. single large screen. Just want to make sure you know that regardless of the size of the single screen, the amount of image visible remains the same - it's just bigger. With triple screens, you effectively triple the amount of side to side image visible. Think of the image in pixel counts. At 1080p HD your tv resolution will be 1920 x 1080 or thereabouts. With triples it is 5760 x 1080 or thereabouts.

Secondly, although a dual card setup is very powerful, some of the current single card set ups can run triple screens very nicely. I use a gtx 780 and it runs well enough. Darin here at ISR swears by his single Gtx 780 Ti.

In any case, whatever you decide, the gameplay should be great.

BTW - nice choice of sim gear too. Don't forget SimVibe for your ButtKicker ! (great review of it here at ISRTV)

Good luck,

Dave

Thank you for the reply. Yes you're probably right, but as you know the gtx780 has 3gb of ram, my GTX 770 only has 2gb, which could be a problem in a triple screen setup. So I think I'd rather go for a single screen setup for now and upgrade it in the future.

For the SimVibe, for some reasons I didn't know anything about it, so thanks again! :)

Your gtx 770 should handle triple screens fine (assuming 1080p at 60fps), even with only 2gb vram. You will just have to turn down a few settings that will not make that noticeable of a difference.
