Ricky Davies 326 Report post Posted August 15, 2014 Mertol I don't know how buying codemasters game can be effecting the community. Your comments on Codemasters games will effect the community by driving away the casual f1 game users, when most communities are open to all types of titles, console and pc from casual to hardcore. Hey I play iracing but I still love a race on f1 because it's fun...
mertol 0 Report post Posted August 15, 2014 Because when one developer can get away with the lazy way of doing it like codemasters, the others will follow they are not dumber. I'm not driving away anyone codemasters drives away their customers including me by creating crappy games. Being arcade is not the problem - they are like testing how far they can go and retain the customers and so far it seems they can go pretty far.
NIROS 1 Report post Posted August 15, 2014 The hot lap is a joke. the engines of these f1 cars sound horrible. and to be honest id rather drive Rfacotr2 mods or assetto anyday. Complete rubbish. Doesn't even look good.
Ricky Davies 326 Report post Posted August 15, 2014 Mortel - They focus more in console and towards the casual racer as that side of racing us more popular then pc simracing. They must be doing something right as they seem to be able to fund a game every year despite still using the same aspects of previous titles. We can clearly see your anger and disappointment towards codemasters but no need to keep going on just chill
William Marsh 118 Report post Posted August 16, 2014 The way I see it, generally the more racing titles, the better. Codemasters doesn't market the F1 games are hardcore simulations. They market them as a racing game, that incorporates simulation aspects into it, a term that we call "Simcade". It allows Formula One fans to have the opportunity to drive (relatively) realistic race cars in a relatively accurate depiction of a Formula One season. If you want the hardcore F1 driving experience, GSC, rFactor 1/2, iRacing, etc have realistic depictions of F1 cars. I would likely say that if it weren't for games like F1, Gran Turismo, Forza, GRID, etc, we wouldn't have as thriving a sim racing community as we have now. I got my start when I won a copy of Gran Turismo 3 from a competition using Crash Team Racing. I went from total arcade, to simcade, to Sim when I transfered to NASCAR Sim Racing in 2007. I've been hooked on Sim Racing ever since, but I still respect the simcade and arcade racing titles. They're fun, provide for a little distraction, and bottom line, it's racing! LeDechaine 51 Report post Posted August 17, 2014 Hell, maybe I wouldn't be on these forums if I wouldn't have rented Top Gear 3000.
BigJayA 195 Report post Posted August 17, 2014 Couldn't agree more....codemasters know their target audience and know it well, it's not specifically the guy with a rig and wheel setup, it's for those who still race with a pad also!!!! This is why year on year they try and improve the gamepad handling to make it more fun for the 'mass market' and the mass market is where there is money to be made!! But hey, that doesn't mean that us sim racers can't also enjoy it.....like everybody has pointed out....it's fun!! And sometimes, it's fun to get away from the seriousness of proper sims and just put your foot down without worrying about going off at every corner!! I have bought every F1 game since 2010.....I personally love them, I get hours and hours of fun for what I would say is not a lot of money......IMO that's a bargain!!, they are pretty to look at and if you turn all assists off and choose a difficult setting they're not that bad at all....I shall be buying F1 2014 for my PC and I'll also buy the next gen F1 2014 for my Xbone when it's released!!! Give codies a break.....they're doing a good job in recreating these games for a mass market!!
fil140 115 Report post Posted October 20, 2014 Here here! I switch the assists off, tune the handlig to twitchy and the brakes to locky then wack up the ai and run full sim as possible settings, and that makes it great fun. I have to laugh when people slag off codies f1 then i see them online with full assists on,f1 has no abs or tc! Im enjoying the sillyness of driveclub right now and thats as far from a sim as you could get,but it looks good sounds good and makes for four wheel fun. BigJayA 195 Report post Posted October 20, 2014 It also gets me that a lot of people are moaning about the lack of the classics within F1 2014........but what's the point!?!?!? It's been done!! And done very well in F1 2013!!! Bit pointless releasing yet more classic cars for 2014!!! And to be honest.....I think F1 2014 is merely a stop gap before the next gen is released next year, so I'm kinda glad that they've just done this version to please/pacify the masses and so they can concentrate on the new and improved F1 2014!!!! But for now...it'll do for me
fil140 115 Report post Posted October 20, 2014 Yep spot on,thats what i said on the codies forum,i want something really new but i want this years update for now, hell if they only changed 1 car and 1 rule id still want the updated version,im an addict,so shoot me,its no diifferent from the kicky ball fifa games year after year and they dont even change the rules!! LeDechaine 51 Report post Posted October 24, 2014 It also gets me that a lot of people are moaning about the lack of the classics within F1 2014........but what's the point!?!?!? Yup. But, oddly enough, there's support for the sequential TH8RS/TH8A shifter for F1 2014 (PS3/PS4) and no classic content. What?! Also, people complain because adjusting their steering wheels is "difficult" on Codemasters F1 games. May I note that someone on another forum already tested the Caterham crew's F1 simulator, and there was virtually no FFB and the people there said the steering feedback was "dead on", and another one tested the Ferrari crew's F1 simulator and this one had dangerous FFB. So... to the wheel owners, maybe adjusting your wheel "to your liking" isn't the right way and that's why you complain. I just received F1 2013 Complete Edition, by the way... but I don't have my wheel! I'll see how it works soon, but I don't ask much so I don't think I'll complain. Annnd to stay on topic, hell, F1 2014 is obviously an enormous difference from F1 2013 with all the changes, sounds + 8-speed + turbos... I've seen Darin race and it seems harder, frequent loss of grip because of turbo. Interesting.
