Nice wheel rims which as cost effective

5 posts in this topic

I have been looking around for a nice race rim and found an interesting post on iracing. Niels Heusinkeld suggested these are a good alternative to Sparco & Momo. Note prices are 20% less if you do not live in UK.

Below are a few other suggestions

Forgive my ignorance but with the concept of rims are you saying one could in theory just order a g27 base (I didn't know they were sold separately) and then just stick a fanatec wheel like the 99 dollar one in the base and start driving with a better wheel?

I didn't realize the rims were not fixed to their bases and were detachable o.o I thought there was wiring for the force feedback and whatnot to work.

That could actually be highly cost effective for someone like me because then instead of feeling like the g27 is a better value than a gt3rs but a gt3rs has a better feeling wheel (since it is belt driven instead of "noisy" gear driven), I could just get g27 parts, exclude the rim, and buy that 99 dollar one for cheaper...if it is really that easy (which I doubt because I've not seen this being done very often). Let me know please!

*Edit* I just have been browsing the fanatec site and the web since thinking this and clearly it is much easier said and done and is not even cost effective because you have to buy some 250 dollar part to even then be able to buy the wheel rim from what I can see. May as well just get a TM or something that already works out of the box instead no?
