RocketGecko 0 Report post Posted July 11, 2014 Decided I want to buy a G27 but before I order it I remembered that my desk is glass top. My concern is that, even though the glass is thick, the vibration of the wheel would damage the glass. So I was wondering if anyone has ran into the same issue or if someone would have a way of mounting it without damaging the glass. I'd like to keep from getting a wheel stand but if its the only way to get around it then i guess that's that. Thanks.
Gunstar 615 Report post Posted July 11, 2014 I don't think a G27 would damage your glass desk unless you try to drill to hard mount it.
Bruce Raeburn 2 Report post Posted July 11, 2014 I would suggest using some sort of insulation-friction increasing material, sheet rubber or something similar. (pickup truck bed liner type mat?) Something that could spread out the clamping forces a bit. Bruce
Paul GT73 1,398 Report post Posted July 11, 2014 and maybe use some 12 mm mdf underneath rather than clamp it directly to the glass, belt and braces.
RocketGecko 0 Report post Posted July 12, 2014 Thanks for the quick replies guys. Putting something in between the mounts and desk was what i was thinking also just didn't know what.
Gunstar 615 Report post Posted July 12, 2014 Dense foam padding? You can get a roll of it at harbor freight here in the US for 8 bucks, it's some kind of anti-fatigue floor mat that looks like diamond plate.

Chance of 2 dinky G27 motor's breaking it are slim to nil.
