claykeedee 35 Report post Posted July 6, 2014 Hi, I am in the market for my first wheel in anticipation for Project Cars for PS4. Seeing as I am not sure what wheels Pcars will support on the PS4 I haven't bought one yet but I've been keeping tabs on either the Logitech DFGT, Logitech G25, and G27. I was leaning more towards a G25 or G27 since I would like a wheel with minimal sound while turning as to not annoy people in my living room and I've heard the DFGT is quite loud. That said, of the wheels I mentioned, which of the 3 wheels I mentioned has the least amount of cable clutter? I'm looking for the most plug and play experience possible with a wheel since I won't be able to keep it in a permanent space in the living room (which is already sufficiently cluttered). Basically I will have to bring the wheel to the living room to use it, then take it away after back to my room, rinse and repeat while playing Pcars. So the easier it is to plug and unplug the wheel for use with minimal cable clutter, the better. Thanks.
Dave55 12 Report post Posted July 6, 2014 Hey claykeedee, I'm not an expert on PS4 wheel compatabilities, but that aside, I'm afraid to tell you that regardless of the wheel / pedal set you get you will have to deal with wires. I own a T500 rs now, but have previous experience with G25 / 27. The G series wheels come with both a pedal set and shifter - both of which plug into the base of the wheel. The wires for these components are quite long, in order to provide for various mounting position options. The wheel itself has a long usb cord, as well as a cord to the power brick - and then wire to the wall plug. Whew ! Great wheels - but maybe not as easy to lug around all the time. Mind you, once the pedals and shifter are plugged into the base, you can leave them attached. Then you just have the usb and power cord to worry about. Don't forget you'll have to secure the wheel to something for stability ! Perhaps you could think about a simple DIY wooden stand that you could make portable whilst leaving the wheel, pedals, and shifter attached. There are several retail portable wheel stands as well. Many are reviewed right here at ISR ! Good luck Dave
zachfeen 3 Report post Posted July 6, 2014 I'd look at the new t300 for the ps4, I have the tx which is the xbox version of the wheel, great wheel and quiet. All wheels are going to more or less have the same wires, with a usb and power cord, and a pedal to base cord. For portability, the playseat challenge is great. I live in a small apartment and can't have a dedicated rig so the challenge was really my best option and it is awesome for a portable rig. Can even be folded with the wheel and pedals still attached.
Darin Gangi 1,074 Report post Posted July 6, 2014 Logitech wheels haven't been confirmed as being supported by the PS4 as of right now. Your only safe bet seems to be the T300 by Thrustmaster in regards to compatibility. The Logitech wheels are all gear driven and make a lot more noise than the Thrustmaster belt drive wheels too. stone775 173 Report post Posted July 6, 2014 You might try one of these also. They come in a couple different sizes too. XL20 Xlerator Wheel Stand, Regular Lap Bar for Logitech G27 Darin did a review on one of these not to long ago and found it very good and stable. You can leave all your equipment hooked up and tied down (wires) on it and fold it up for storage, it fits in a closet out of the way ...I hope this helps you out some
Ricky Davies 326 Report post Posted July 6, 2014 i found mote cable clutter with the G27 then the T500. also the G27 is slight for me only for a short time it can get clunky/rattly depending on how much use. But its not ps4 compatible. CHEERS!

Likely I won't be looking to get a wheel and a wheel stand on top of that (already expensive enough for the wheel alone as it is for me). Thanks for letting me know about the cable situation. Might actually be more difficult to get into sim racing than I thought. I'll have to think a bit more about this. I'd look at the new t300 for the ps4, I have the tx which is the xbox version of the wheel, great wheel and quiet. I live in a small apartment and can't have a dedicated rig so the challenge was really my best option and it is awesome for a portable rig. Can even be folded with the wheel and pedals still attached. I definitely also cannot get a dedicated rig nor also afford that stand on top of the wheel yet. I'd rather be sure I like sim racing enough to decide to save up for a stand or rig on top of what I already paid for the wheel. I'm hopeful that more ps4 wheels come out because unless I'm mistaken the t300 is 399 USD or something crazy like that. Not something I'm willing to spend on a first wheel.... Logitech wheels haven't been confirmed as being supported by the PS4 as of right now. Your only safe bet seems to be the T300 by Thrustmaster in regards to compatibility. The Logitech wheels are all gear driven and make a lot more noise than the Thrustmaster belt drive wheels too. Thanks for the informative reply. As I mentioned to Zach, the t300 is definitely beyond my pricepoint for a very first wheel. Ridiculously expensive. Didn't know about the gear vs belt driven sound differences though so hopefully thrust master releases a more budget version of their wheel that is reasonably quiet. Thanks. I honestly never gave as much thought to thrustmaster compared to fanatec and logitech because of the wheel standoff videos I saw isrtv do on youtube where all 3 of you said thrustmaster was the worst haha. You might try one of these also. They come in a couple different sizes too. Definitely any stand purchase will have to come way down the line. I'm only ready to commit to a wheel and pedals at this stage financially...hence why I'm in the market for a good wheel (i.e not the Hori nonsense wheels) but not overly expensive wheels. I'd like to spend between 100-200 dollars on a first wheel/pedal experience, probably second hand where I can get the wheel at a bargain price. I'll have to start using a small folding desk and chair I've got as a primitive stand. i found mote cable clutter with the G27 then the T500. also the G27 is slight for me only for a short time it can get clunky/rattly depending on how much use. But its not ps4 compatible. CHEERS! Thanks a lot. I definitely will have to reconsider thrustmaster wheels. They just seem overly expensive for a first wheel. It's a shame that the logitech wheels aren't supported on ps4. One would think it would be in sony's best interest to keep the wheels compatible with ps3 compatible with ps4. Sounds like it would be easy to do but I guess there must be a reason why they have now partnered with thurstmaster and withdrawn from logitech. Logitech just seemed to offer better value-for-money wheels that one doesn't have to break the bank to pay for.
Gunstar 615 Report post Posted July 7, 2014 Unless you're in a hurry, I'd look for the PS4 wheel market to get a lot more crowded once you start hearing GT7 whispers... GT sells wheels, that's a fact. Does DriveClub? Well, guess we will find out soon enough!
claykeedee 35 Report post Posted July 7, 2014 I'm not in too much of a hurry but I would love to play project cars this year. Maybe thrustmaster will release a more reasonably priced t200 rs or something

GT sells wheels, that's a fact. Does DriveClub? Well, guess we will find out soon enough! That's true however GT supports all the previous wheels. For example you can play gt6 with the driving force pro or driving force ex. I don't think that they will stop supporting them now. But they probably won't be supported in the other games like driveclub. Also you won't be able to use the dfgt and the g27 on the ps4 menu so something like the T300RS or another option that may come in the near future.
MrDavid 58 Report post Posted August 10, 2014 I got a Thrustmaster tx (pretty much the same as a T300) for $330 (regular 400) on amazon.com, perhaps once the T300 rs is available in the US maybe they'll put it on that sale too. The bang for buck with Thrustmaster is amazing though. It has such good ffb. In regards to noise with a g27, most of the noise that you will experience will come from the shifter and pedals. Because the g27 is so moddable you can get rid of the noise fairly easily. I modded my wheel with this http://www.isrtv.com/forums/topic/12194-g27-reducing-noise-and-dead-zone-mod/, my pedals with this, and the shifter with this
claykeedee 35 Report post Posted August 13, 2014 Thanks for your reply and sorry for the late response (I actually didn't expect this thread to still be relevant). Much thought has taken place since I made this thread and I think I will wait it out and see if the GT3 RS V2 (now my current wheel of choice due to the belt drive) will come to ps4 or not. If not, maybe the T300RS will go on a cool sale like you mentioned. The GT3 RS and CSR regular pedals is only 230 though...much more appealing than 330 and even more appealing than 400 but we'll see. The TX has been out for a while so I'm not hopeful that the T300 will be on sale immediately once it hits the market (otherwise why price it at 400 and not 330 you know?) That said, I guess I should ask because I never thought to before: do wheels usually take part in black friday or holiday sales? Maybe I'll be able to see a T300RS at a sub-300 price point on a sale if that is the case.
