Forza 5 race Saturday 3rd May 9:00pm (21:00) GMT

Getting there.

2:15.1xx in the BMW in cockpit view and no TCS, just had braking line on to help get accustomed to the different viewpoint.

2:16.1xx in the Aston, same as above.

Astons easier than the BMW without TCS but I don't like the view from cockpit, seems to far back.

Gonna give the viper a run now, will try out the last 2 tomorrow.

Edit - viper 2:15.1xx very similar to the BMW.

5 is still good.  Another 10 lap practice last night with full cockpit view and surprisingly the drive became more natural as the race went on.  Best lap of 2:16.2 which is about a second off my fastest time but overall race time was 23:01 which was pretty much the same as hood view practice.  The sun in the eye was much more noticeable.

I might be bringing a fellow from UK.

That would be awesome if we could get even one more

Yeah man, that's decent going.. I got a freaky time yesterday, but ran wide a bit on one of the corners at the end :(

The sun is a bitch on Spa.. Lucky for me my braking point is the kerb, so I barely ever miss it.. But if you're racing, and are going two abreast into that corner it could get a bit messy. I'm sure you'll barely notice it after a few laps

Hi guys.....sadly cannot make tonight....the wife has lost a family member today and I'd feel a little inappropriate disappearing into my sim room for a couple of hours!!! Needless to say....I'm gutted after practicing all week AND buying my DB9 AND getting used to cockpit view!!, but as I say....I'd feel a real bad ass by not being with her.

I'll be on tomorrow and pretty much all week on an evening if anybody fancies some friendly competition.....and I'm hoping these forza race nights continue.....cuz I'm soooo up for it!!!

Laters Racers!

Well, my connection died on the second race sorry

Well done everyone.. Sucked that there was only a few of us.. Will probably try the next one at a different time to see if we can get a few more to join us..

Thanks for participating everyone!! My race was fun, hope yours was too. I'll try and make some highlights or something

See, I told you it was tight :)

I think if we all add each other as friends then whenever there's a few of us on we can have a blast!! Doesn't necessarily have to be a fixed day/time just ad-hoc......but then also have the fixed night alongside???

I find it difficult to be kept to days/times due to my circumstances.....own business/wife/kids/goldfish etc etc!!

Regret that BJA could not make it but you did the right thing!

Everyone was so quick, especially GTPChristianC, congratulations in the 1st place!

My race went from bad to worse.  Ran into an early braking AI at the first corner damaging the aero and brakes.  My lap time was 2:22 which was dreadful.  Thankfully pitting fixed everything then I missed Eau Rouge and hit a wall which required another pit.  For the last few laps, the pace was OK but by this time GTP has already lapped me!  Overall, the race was still fun and I had a lot of fun preparing for it.

I would gladly do this again!

Well I'm always up for racing. I never play multiplayer, nor do I do much career. If you see me on, feel free to give me a shout.. Depends on what time, but we have a little crew who get together in the week

This is a casual deal. If you can make it, then that's great.. Its obviously good trying to arrange in advance to try and get more on board.. Hopefully we'll become a lot tighter and do fun races when it suits as you say

Had fun in this.

Bit out of my comfort zone racing with cockpit and no assists, but was a good experience.

Well that's the main thing!! You did really well, just watched the replay.. You both up top had an epic battle for the first half of the race. We've said it before, but the more cockpit/no assists you do, the more comfortable you'll become. I think you did superbly to be quite honest.. Our battle for the last 5 laps was equally epic, and believe you me I was on my limit

That sucks man.. The problem is Spa is that if you're going to screw up your car, 9/10 it will happen at Eau Rouge giving you the longest lap in the world to get back to the pits.

Your pace was good for the first few laps.. I was behind you I think until the third lap and you were doing a tidy pace

The main thing is that you enjoyed it and you're interested in doing more..

I always say it on these races, but any suggestions at all would be welcome.. Any car/track combinations you fancy, feel free to stick them up. If not I'll find something fun (and less expensive than the GT cars) for the next race..

Well done everybody!! Was a blast just pumping in laps by myself for most of the race.. If we could even 10 that would be amazing

I think the best thing is that although the driving may not have been perfect, we all did out utmost to not make contact and respect each others' space.. And also, from viewing the footage, giving opponents room to do some good old fashioned wheel to wheel racing was very pleasing to see.. That's the biggest positive for me

Also worth saying, we could carry on with the GT cars for a while if you want??

If anyone wants any set-up help or tips, give me a shout.. I'm not an expert, but getting used to these GT cars a bit now.. I know some will just download them; but I always find I'm a lot quicker using my own

Peace

Oh man I can't believe I missed this. I was free last night as the missus was out but hadn't checked the forum for a while. I'll definitely be interested in the next one.

Gamertag = ChickenShizzle

That's one awesome GT.

Probably won't be able to race during the week due to time difference.

More of these would be great.

Wouldn't mind dropping down a class or 2, wouldn't be so bad without TCS then.

Yeah might not be a bad idea.. Something I'm a little concerned about is that a lot of the downloadable cars the few tiers down are better than the cars you get for free with the game. Do you have a problem with doing, say A-class any RW car... Or would you prefer for me to look for half a dozen cars that are similar to choose from? With the ability to upgrade them a little..

We did a few races, everyone in the same car and that was awesome! We chose a bit American boat from the 60's for one race, a Lambo Diablo for another.. That way, rather than everyone having different cars we'd be the same, but would have perhaps 100 extra PI to use how we please.. Some go for power, some for handling.. That could be an option too, but that was the reason Darin was never interested in joining us as he wanted the freedom to pick his own car

Thoughts? I'm a believer in democracy, so hopefully we'll decide what to do together.. But your thoughts would be appeciated

Well if we can decide today what we should do for next weekend; races in the week for me would probably be practice for the weekend race

What day suits you better? Saturday or Sunday? And what are your preferred times?

I prefer racing on Sundays.. I just wanted to avoid alienating Sunday league racers; but none showed up so f&*k them! Just depends on what you chaps want.. I don't mind running a bit later on Saturday night, earlier on Sunday.. I know it might be a pain, but I'm considering the same as last week but an hour later on the start time..

and I have a chuckle at the shizzle tag as I was typing into xbox one :)

Thanks.

I usually run with STM on and auto clutch so not sure how I'll get on but will be fun all the same I'm sure.

To be honest, there's not a huge amount of difference with STM imo.. You just need to make sure you have a set-up that suits your driving style. Imo, all the aids do a lot of the time is cover weaknesses in set-ups.

If you need a hand at all feel free to give me a shout

Clutch is fine.. do you do manual gears? We'll allow just manual, but not automatic gears.

Do you race wheel or pad?

I have a plan

If you go to buy car. Filter to B class and RWD, there's roughly 30 vehicles that come in that range

There a few DLC cars, but I think loads on the game are potentially quicker

And I think we should be allowed to tune up to A

I know some may not like that aspect of it, but you weight reduction and race tyres is 150PI on some cars.

Let me know what you think
