Is it worth buying Xbox One for Forza 5

21 posts in this topic

I'm considering buying an Xbox One for Forza 5. The only reason I'd buy the console is to play Forza 5. For those of you who have Forza 5, do you think it's worth the cost of an Xbox One and a new wheel to play it? If I don't get Forza, I'd probably put the money towards buying a PC to try iRacing. I'm currently playing GT6 with a controller. Thanks for any thoughts.

iRacing if you want a "sim"

Forza if you want a video game.

Either can be tons of fun, just depends on what you're looking for.

I would vote for taking the "sim" route. A difficult path but very rewarding.

Those are two very different paths.

If you  a little bored from games,AI etc and want something real, serious - iRacing is the best.

If you preffer to relax and just play - Forza is much better option. And yes Forza worth the cost of the XB1+wheell IMO. After 6 months you will have Project CARS too.

I would put the money towards a PC and go with iRacing.

Forza 5 and the Xbox One didn't give me much entertainment for the money. Forza 5 was very repetitive after a short amount of time. With it being almost at the six month mark, if it is like other Forza games, the developers will not be adding new content.

After playing Forza 1 through Forza 4, I went iRacing. I will never go back. Does that answer your question ?

And just because you go PC, doesn't mean you're limited to iRacing. There are tons of other great sims on the PC as well, and mods on top which make the possibilities endless.

The PC is way more than just iRacing... you have Assetto Corsa (which will probably get you closest to a Forza-type experience) making huge improvements, rFactor 2, RaceRoom, F1, NASCAR, DIRT, GRiD and SO m,any more.... plus a better wheel/pedal/accessory selection, triple screens... and you don't need to build a crazy expensive machine to do it... but it helps.

You must not have seen the announcements for new content including Long Beach that was added yesterday for FREE ;-)

Agree with what most said above.....I have both.....I play forza 5 for a bit of fun.....and iracing is (although fun) a game you need to spend a lot of time on to advance....not a quick 30mins play here and there!! I love both.....but yes....they are very differently paths!!!

I only go iRacing simply because everything else is a distraction and won't help to improve my performances in iRacing.  For quick fun I'll jump into a practice session or will race in a Street Stock Car race.

Yeah I prefer every now and then relaxing and playing in open practice with a bunch of other guys in iracing. For the most part we all are out having fun, I don't like a quiet practice either and try getting the room chatting and getting to know eachother running moc races sometimes n what not. I would in a heartbeat go the PC route there's just more to choose from SOOOOOOOOOOO much more..

Also if you want to run hot laps go earn safety rating in Time Trials, OMI it's one of the best ways to fast track to A licence. I did both oval and road the same time, I bet it would have been much quicker had I focused on one at a time. Besides racing a Ton I so easily got my "time for an intervention" badge, I think that year I only missed a race a day when I was out of town on vacation.

AC rocks, Rfactor2 is sweet, Game stockcar is awesome as well so so many  to mess with LOL. Then I've been running that MXGP motocross sim / game and posting a full season on our forum in 1st person the only way I roll heh. Now working with the AI to make it challenging has really made it fun as hell.

Forza 5 doesn't have Rally, Oval (outside of IndyCar), and not really full "Series" (like there are the V8SCC, but they are different years, and I believe there's only Bathurst).

PC racing has a wide spectrum, with RBR providing top notch rally, AC, rFactor 2, iRacing providing quality road racing.

You want as many cars and tracks as possible? rFactor 1 has THOUSANDS of cars and tracks. Granted they range in quality, but while some are garbage, some are incredible!

Bottom line: get a decent pc, decent rig setup, and get good titles for cheap!

No Doubt....PC Route can give you every car and every track in the world:) I just trying to say that iRacing is not for every taste. No matter that is the most serious. It`s not a game. This is huge pro ,but for some people is a con. For PC there are tons of games outhere:)
