po22sick 0 Report post Posted March 22, 2014 Hi all! I have two ASUS VK266H 25.5" 16:10 (HDMI/DVI/VGA) monitors which I bought ages ago. When I decided to take the jump into triple screens I thought it would be as easy as purchasing a 3rd model. Unfortunately this model no longer exists, the size (25.5") also appears not to exist anymore and the ratio (16:10) also appears to be near extinct. My budget allows me to purchase one monitor, and one monitor only. I live in France, so of course prices and models differ quite a bit from back in the US. I have a ton of questions. What would you recommend as my third monitor to run sims like iRacing and WRC? What will fit well with my two existing ones, will not distort and will not produce a completely different quality picture? I assume it would be my center monitor, so what connections should it have? Frequency? What size?. Also, I have an nvidia card with display port, what accessories would I need to connect to the three monitors once I find the final one? Thank you all in advance for your help!!
DjFIL 180 Report post Posted March 22, 2014 See if you can find one used? If it's not at least the same resolution, it won't work using nVidia's Surround settings. You'd be forced to use SoftTH which is a pain to set up, and only works for DX9 games.

If I do go for another 1900x1200 16:10, does the screen size matter? Can I get a smaller (or larger) screen and still properly align the image in the two lateral ones? Also, what connectiones would it need to have and what do I do to connect to a display port? Thanks!
lopsided 345 Report post Posted March 22, 2014 Might be helpful, might not... I found one that did not sell on eBay. You may wish to contact that seller and see if they still have it and whether they would consider int'l shipping. You can also add the model number to the Watch list on eBay and other, similar sites. This way if someone list one for sale you'll be notified instead of having to remember to check. Bailey

It should be fine. You may notice a slight difference with how items line up, depending on the screen size difference (within 1 inch shouldn't be that bad)... but it would be playable. I'm personally using two DVI to DVI cables and one HDMI to DVI. I am not using the displayport... but a displayport to DVI (or whatever your monitor requires) should be fine. BK_NC 73 Report post Posted March 22, 2014 Newegg.com here in the US has a lot of 1920x1200 16:10 monitors. Most are 24" though and none are bigger. I think you would be fine using a 24" one to go with the other 2. After a while you probably wouldn't even notice. Also, I noticed most of these monitors have a Display Port built in so if you find one that has a Display Port then all you need is a DP cable and no adaptors. Or you can do DVI / DVI / HDMI with Nvidia 6xx and 7xx series and you don't have to use the DP if you don't want.
po22sick 0 Report post Posted March 23, 2014 Thank you for the replies. After much thought, I think I may be better off waiting to be able to buy 3 identical ones. Saves all the hassle. I have thought of 3 AOC - I2757FH 27 inches. Will I have problems connecting them (they are HDMI/VGA only) to my card? My card has two DVI, 1 HDMI and one Display Port. Can I use DVI to HDMI converters and a Display POrt to HDMI active converter? Thanks again!
DjFIL 180 Report post Posted March 23, 2014 You can use two DVI to HDMI cables (or adapters) and one HDMI to HDMI cable. That would work perfect. No reason to get the DP adapter, as those can get pricey.

Can I use DVI to HDMI converters and a Display POrt to HDMI active converter? Thanks again! I used to run a 42in plasma (only 720) as my center screen and a 24 on each side and really loved it other then the 720part. Later moved and using the 42 as a tv I went with a 32in to go in the center and lifted the other screens to best match what was on the screen not the bezel and that worked fine unfortunately I could only afford a 720p at the time to. As luck would have it the screen went out in a month and when I went to get a replacement they had a 1080p 24 on sale for $10 more so now I have 3 different brand 24's. What I'm getting at, start thinking about what size you want to go with choose a consistent size and rock on man! 32's would be about perfect IMO
