Motocross Games in 2014

12 posts in this topic

It's a good year to want a motocross game for PC.

MX Simulator has been out for a while.  But the controls don't feel great, the graphics are really dated, and at $42 USD ($48.80 CAD) that's way too high for an 'indie' developed title.  On the positive side, it does have AI (though it doesn't perform great).

PiBoSo's MX Bikes (1st beta "Soon").  Love his Kart Racing Pro game.  And you know there will be loads of track/bike mods to download/install.  But being a bit more casual with this sport I think I'll want something with AI to race against.  While KRP is $40, WRS and GP Bikes are $30... and I expect MX Bikes to start around $30 or lower.

Milestone's MXGP (March 28th on Steam).  I know lots of people either like or hate Milestone's games.  MUD was arcade junk... but MXGP is looking to be with a more simulation focus (like the MotoGP series).  I'm looking forward to this and will likely pick it up.  It can be purchased via GMG currently for $28.80 ($35.99 pre-order special + their 20% off coupon).  Pretty reasonable price for a full retail title.

Nordic Games took over the THQ MX vs ATV series and is reported to release a Supercross focused downloadable title in the first half of this year.  Will have to wait to see more details about this.

Anyone else looking forward to one of these upcoming motocross games?

God I miss the Motocross Madness 1 and MCM 2 days. Had so much fun racing on 56K dial-up.    Yeah, I'm old as dirt.  :ugeek:

I'm in that club too.  Those were great games.

I am looking forward to PiBoSo's MX Bikes. Not sure if I will be getting it right away though. I am getting my first hobby grade RC here in the next few weeks, don't need any more games to distract from my college classes, and this summer be saving to build a PC, buy winter rims for my car, summer tires and pocketing everything else that I can. Depends what he asks for it. Otherwise I'll live off youtube for the next year. Won't be no different than iRacing, I watched youtube videos for a year before getting it, been watching RC car videos for atleast 2 years and just finally getting one. I wish I could trade all the games I don't play for it, sucks having downloads can't trade in for anything.

Now there is a MONEY PIT! RC cars. Though not nearly as bad a RC Helicopters which I did for 10 years. Cars were boring after Heli's.  :P

Least in this computer sim game once you get the hardware and programs setup your good to go on money for a while.  :D

I will likely try (and maybe buy) MX-Bikes... AI is very important for me in this form of racing.  I was between getting MXGP and waiting for MX vs ATV Supercross... but have ended up pre-ordering MXGP (for PC) via GMG ($28.80 USD).

MX vs ATV forums at Nordic Games has the developer doing great feedback with the series fans... and full details of the game are expected by the end of this month.  But it doesn't sound like they're going for what interests me in MXGP, and that's an experience that is authentic to a real-world series (be it FIM MXGP or AMA Supercross).

Forum Poster:

I agree. We need the AMA equivalent of MXGP (all the riders, bikes, teams, full points series, replica tracks, full authenticity) but with Rainbow's excellent game engine (tweaked.)

Eventually, someone will do everything we want...pretty much making the NBA2K of Motocross/Supercross and when they do they will do pretty well and better than the games just trying to please too many people.

MX vs ATV Producer

Building a full sim like that would push our release date long, long after summer. Its been too long since a good MX game has been released, so we're getting something good and fun out this summer. Didn't want you guys to wait over a year when you could be having fun this summer smile.gif

Sounds like it won't be what I'm looking for after all.  Looking forward to playing MXGP in about 2 weeks time.

It changes every few weeks and they display it right on their front page anyway.  But yes, that is the current code.

I'm on PS3, and my games are sim-oriented/sim-like.

I've got Milestone's WRC 3, best rally game on console, and Milestone's SBK X, which is for me the best game ever. I'll buy Milestone's MXGP soon, and this game just looks like the best motocross game ever.

Yup, I'm a fan. ;)

Is the mx vs. atv game going to the next gen.?  I enjoy Milestone games and would pick up MXGP but I am going to go to the next gen. or pc when my Xbox live expires.

Doesn't appear so...

MX vs. ATV Supercross due for release in the first half of 2014 for PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, PC, Mac and Linux. As the title suggests, MX vs. ATV Supercross is centered around the popular Supercross sport and has the scope of a downloadable game.
