He put forward the suggestion of RW drive, older cars which is why I chose that obscene Diablo. And I don't think he's going to be able to make it now as he messaged me saying so. We'll see how it goes. I'm going to try contacting Darin again to see when would be a better time. I have to say when you suggested the race, I kinda expected you to have tried the cars and tracks stated and have tried hosting an on line game. Been trying, without success, to get Chat working via my headset with the TX wheel as I assume we will need chat to work out what's going on in the race. Especially being as I haven't even played the game on-line yet and I don't know a single person from this forum. Not sure what rules have changed. The cars are still the same, so are the tracks. I only try changing things to the benefit of us driving if something does have to change, like your steering stuff for example. If it were a case of waiting an hour or two, or going a little earlier on Saturday then I'd be okay with that if you lot were. Would be cool to get Darin on board, especially being as the field is a little low now. I might have a few more from RD who could join us RE not having tried the cars. I don't have time to be honest mate. I just filtered the RW cars and chose two fun looking old/ish cars. But, I did set this up a week ago, knowing we'd have plenty of time to get to grips with the spaceship and the boat. At this moment in time, everything is good to go as advertised. I emailed Darin earlier, but I understand he's busy so may not even get time to reply. Looking forward to meeting some new racers regardless while we tame these two beast for the best part of an hour Can you not have your TX as controller one and plug your mic into the controller on a different profile? PullThePlug666 5 Report post Posted February 15, 2014 Darin won't be able to make today So, we have 5 signed up. I have a few maybes I'm about to chase up. I'm still up for doing it for educational purposes. Darin said a weekday would probably be better, so when he gets back from his mini-break he'll let me know what day is good for him and I'll set another session up. One of the cars next time around will be one of those Corvette ZR cars.. Not sure which yet, or to what PI. Will check it out after today is out of the way. Suggestions for the other car would be welcome for the next session, so jot a few down on this forum and we'll try them out gradually with an aim to pick two cars to stick with for a bunch of races. I guess I'll host, I don't usually have problems, and there won't be many of us. I'll add you all shortly. Hopefully you're not too put off by the lack of numbers, would be great to meet some new people. I'm certain the numbers will grow.. We just have to grind out this testing period and find a format we're all happy with. Considering shortening both of the races by two laps today.. PullThePlug666 5 Report post Posted February 16, 2014 For those interested, I'll do a bit of a write-up on what took place last night and where we go from here. Only 4 of us showed, which was fine. We were all aware this is a trial period. I'd like to think its nice doing it this way, as we'll all have an input on some of the finer details The first race in the Pontiac GTO. God that car is fun to race in.. I got to start on pole, it was an 8 lap race I think. I got a bit of a lead during the first few laps, but Jeez Tony was applying pressure. Even though it was supposed to be a bit of fun, the last 4 laps with Tony bearing down on me were very nervy. It was a thoroughly enjoyable experience racing those cars, for sure that will be a car for consideration at another point. We did 5 warm-up laps which was nice. I don't think it counted towards anything, but pumping in some laps before the race was very much needed for all of us. I can imagine if we had 16 Pontiac GTO's on track it would be a fantastic time. The second race in the Diablo SV. I saved both races and both pre-race runs on FM5.. I don't have a capture card just yet, so might make a few highlight videos.. This car was so tough.. I think we did 8 laps for this too. I started pole again, built a bit of a lead, then kept making mistakes.. This car is something else. I tried to stick in there through the crashes, and it actually turned out to be a lot more fun race-wise than the Pontiac race. Myself and Tony were basically within a few seconds for most of the race, and same goes for Simon and Craig. Even though there were only 4 of us, we managed to have two remarkable mini-races; trading positions. Okay, maybe a lot of it was error related, rather than fantastic driving.. But all the same, you try pumping in even two consecutive laps in that car with all assists off.. Its very tricky.. Although we had a better race in these, I still don't think long-term these would be that much fun. If you three who raced last night could put a few RW cars you think would be fun, please list them below and we'll have a way to test them all over the next month or so. I'm waiting on Darin to tell me what day is good for him.. I know Tony and Craig are over the pond too.. It might be okay for Darin to race mid-day Western time in the week, but probably isn't for you two? We'll see what Darin suggests and I'll make a new thread as soon as he does for the next race. If we need to tinker with the time at all then we'll do that if it means giving either or both Tony and Craig to join us too. I think one of the cars for the mid-week Darin special is going to have to be the Corvette ZR1 List a few you'd like, preferably with a PI suggestion Peace Share this post Link to post Share on other sites

I just want to know if anyone would be interested in doing a fun event? Would love to do a race on the Top Gear track at some point.. Obviously its a figure 8 track with quite scary crash speed if the field gets spread.. So, I'm thinking.. Something like a 30 lap race.. Its basically a mindless destruction derby race, but you're allowed to pit. I know this type of thing isn't everyone's idea of a good time; but I think it would be brilliant. Especially if it were, say, Classic Muscle cars with a reasonably high PI. If some were interested, I'd be up for filling the grid with AI. Let me know what you think. I don't think this way is too bad, as we're allowing for those racing to suggest different cars to test out with a view to settle on two permanently at a later date. For instance, if you think you can find a time/date that suits, we're going to give your Corvette ZR1 a blast for one race, then another new car for the second race. Then try two different cars for the following session. I know weekends are obviously better as we can get people from multiple time-zones.. Was the Saturday 8GMT good for everyone? I'm going to set up the lobby tomorrow for sign-ups, so if you could throw in some suggestions, I'd appreciate that a lot. Going to go for that ZR1 around Laguna Seca. I'll have a quick run tomorrow to suggest a reasonable PI. Also considering a run around Le Mans as I'm fed up of driving the short version of the track in career. Anyone want to put forward a suggestion for that track? Or maybe we could Vette around there and find another car for Seca And Darin wont be making the races. He prefers the idea of driving in whichever car you please. What do you all think? With the level of customisation on the game, I feel letting people have the ability to tune and upgrade a car offers enough variety. Some may go for power, some may go for better handling. A long race at Top Gear is carnage, but kind of fun in a sadistic sort of way... I'm up for it though. I have a long rant on Chat to Microsoft yesterday about the Chat situation with the TX wheel... Doubt it will do any good, but they listened and said all the right things. That way you can put some set-ups on and upgrade the vehicle and so forth. I've intentionally gone for more affordable cars. You should come and join us.. Its just a bit of a fun as opposed to a league at the moment. We're all quite new to racing this game online. Feel free to put your name down. Going to make a lobby for the next race either today or tomorrow. I'm sure you'd have a great time if you joined us.. We all had a blast on Saturday and there was only 4 on track. Thought it was 8am. You are a machine!! I think the numbers will be better this time around. We need to try and find a time-zone that is Aus/USA/Europe friendly..
