BenSim 0 Report post Posted February 2, 2014 Hi. I just built a gaming computer (specs below) and an Obutto Revolution rig. I'm now using a 47 inch Sony XBR TV as a monitor but have ordered the Obutto triple screen mount. I'd appreciate any help choosing the three monitors for this setup. I'm overwhelmed and confused by the monitor options and specs available and don't want to make the wrong choice. Thanks for the help. ----------------------- Obutto Revolution CPU: Intel Core i7-4770K 3.5GHz Quad-Core Processor Motherboard: Asus MAXIMUS VI FORMULA ATX LGA1150 Motherboard Memory: Crucial Ballistix Elite 16GB (2 x 8GB) DDR3-1866 Memory Storage: Samsung 840 EVO 250GB 2.5" Solid State Disk Storage: Western Digital Caviar Black 1TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive Video Card: EVGA GeForce GTX 780 Ti 3GB Video Card Case: Inwin 904 ATX Mid Tower Case Power Supply: Corsair RM 1000W 80+ Gold Certified Fully-Modular ATX Power Supply Optical Drive: Asus BW-12B1ST/BLK/G/AS Blu-Ray/DVD/CD Writer Operating System: Microsoft Windows 7 Professional SP1 (OEM) (64-bit) Headphones: Razer Kraken 7.1 Channel Headset
ronzer 25 Report post Posted February 2, 2014 Try to get at least get 120 Hz monitors, It makes a big difference over 60 Hz. I have 144 Hz but can only run 120 Hz because I need a better video card, I am running triples,
Gunstar 615 Report post Posted February 2, 2014 I think the oButto stand supports 27's, so I'd say anything that's good quality, thin bezeled, has a standard VESA mount and in that size range.

CaTaPulT 658 Report post Posted February 3, 2014 Wow! Nice setup. Are you using the Obutto screen mount? Which model monitors are you using? Are you happy with them and do you think 24 inch are preferable to 27? Hi BenSim. Thanks for the kind words and yes, I am using the Obutto R3volution monitor stand. My monitors are a little over 3 years old, they are cheap BenQ 24 inch monitors. I had paid only $200.00 (Canadian) each then. They have worked flawlessly, good picture quality and have never failed or even hickuped. As mentioned above, try and find monitors with smaller bezels, also, make sure the push button controls are either up front or underneath. Controls on the side of the monitor are useless since you would only be able to get to the controls of only one monitor in a triple monitor set up. As for 24 inch vs 27, 27 inch monitors are often considerably more expensive, so 24's may be a good alternative. Take care Regards: >>>> Jack <<<<

jonixc 33 Report post Posted February 5, 2014 Also make sure the monitors have the connectors your graphic card support. If you could get monitors with DVI and HDMI connectors that would help. If all monitors are DVI you will need HDMI to DVI cable or adapter. No big issue but something to consider. I have 3 24" Acer on 60hz I'm happy with them Good luck

I looked at the pictures and read your post, you built a great rig! My graphic card has 2 DVI and one HDMI connector so I may need an adapter. The mother board has a DisplayPort connector and I want to run a small 4th monitor for data. I ordered a DisplayPort to DVI adapter to connect an older 17 inch monitor I have sitting around unused. MattyK-USA 109 Report post Posted March 15, 2014 Is anyone using different size triple monitor setup? For example, a 27" center monitor and 24" side monitors. Bad idea. The monitors will scale the images differently. Since you'd be running the same resolution on each monitor, the center monitor would show everything larger and it would be pretty much impossible to align the images. kippintranet 1 Report post Posted March 18, 2014 Thanks for the information; never gave scaling consideration.

DjFIL 180 Report post Posted March 18, 2014 Is anyone using different size triple monitor setup? For example, a 27" center monitor and 24" side monitors. As mentioned scaling makes it a pain. I had a center 24" 16:9 and two outside 19" 5:4's. They lined up just fine... but different resolutions. Only way to make it work was using SoftTH... and that limits it to DX9 games, as they can't support DX10 or 11... also you get a frame rate hit by using this method. http://i.imgur.com/7UL8dLq.jpg This was the result. Looks fine... but center monitor wasn't at native resolution (needed vertical resolution to match outside monitors for it to line up correctly). And couldn't play any newer titles (AC, newer Codemasters games, etc) with this setup. So happy when I switched to matching 24" monitors.
