Zantium 46 Report post Posted January 22, 2014 Where I'm up to with my journey... I'm 2-3 weeks into owning a wheel (new DFGT) and have upgraded the pedals to G25 ones with a Leo Bodnar cable, I've got my hardware sorted. I've also been enjoying Assetto Corsa very much, mostly practicing in the Fiat 500/S1 with a few of the others and in the recent update can win the 500 race on hard pretty easily but I'm usually 2-3rd on the alien setting, though have won it once iirc. I've watched the iRacing school videos, really good series and have benefited a lot from them. Looking at the posts in this forum, Game Stock Car 2013 looks like a must buy so I will pick that up as it's cheap, has karts and also has the Mini Coopers (I had a tuned R53 until a couple of months ago) so there's familiarity there and also, it's got Interlagos. What's my next step/s on the road to improvement - is it just a matter of practicing now and gaining experience (while having a whale of a time)? Using the RSR Timing app in AC, I'll usually start near the bottom on the combos I've tried and can get up to somewhere in the middle with a little practice which probably isn't bad 2-3 weeks in but I can't get any faster than that, I hit a wall (sometimes literally). Ricky Davies 326 Report post Posted January 22, 2014 Hi Zantium, I find putting over 50 to 100 laps on a track with trying different lines can help improve your times. Just trying different speeds through corners and braking points and trying different gears can help as it's not real life you can push that much more but trying to keep competitive. You could also look up some videos on the title your using see what lines people are taking and the shitt/downshift points, I say this in a lot of these threads but PRACTICE PRACTICE PRACTICE!. You can also easily learn bad habbits if your flicking between 2 racing titles in a short space of time, so dedicate a hole day to one title. Hope you can take something from this CHEERS! Zantium 46 Report post Posted January 23, 2014 Thanks for the suggestions, I shall get practicing then - that part is fun, I just didn't want to do that if there was a next stage I should be learning. I've probably got well over 100 laps of Magione already so I'll see if I can find some videos of people faster than myself and see what they're doing. coops 18 Report post Posted January 23, 2014 AGREE with simracingrick...The other suggestion I would make is get the PERFECT PEDAL for your g25 pedals its only the brake but it will make a big difference to your braking markers and will increase lap times. http://www.perfectpedal.com/ that is there web site. and don't forget : PRACTICE PRACTICE PRACTICE
Zantium 46 Report post Posted January 23, 2014 While the Perfect Pedal conversion looks great, I just don't have that sort of money. If it becomes a long term thing then perhaps, or maybe a load cell conversion or at the very least a progressive spring. I could certainly build my own load cell mod for about a quarter of the cost of the perfect pedal so bang for buck that's probably a better option for me.
