DeadEye 31 Report post Posted January 22, 2014 I am writing this on a Mac which I won't be using for sim racing. I was just wondering if I can sign up and pay for 1year in iRacing and then wait until my new pc arrives to download? I want to take advantage of the 1 year for 50% off. Thanks, Deadeye

Liebetrau88 35 Report post Posted January 24, 2014 You can also download the program onto numerous computers as long as you have the account. Think of it this way. The software is free. But in order to use it and download it, you have to pay for a subscription. I currently have it downloaded onto two computers.
DeadEye 31 Report post Posted January 24, 2014 Thanks gt99 and Liebetrau88…. I'll sign up today...
J.A.R.V.I.S. 282 Report post Posted January 24, 2014 Yes it is possible. Though remember that most of the deals are for new members only so when you want to start your membership again, you will have to use the whole price unless you time it perfectly. >Cheers!< J.A.R.V.I.S. DeadEye 31 Report post Posted January 24, 2014 I signed up today (iRacing) and already went through the 16 Driving School Video's. I signed up for a year so a week without my pc will be good time to watch and read everything there is plus forum tidbits. I have in the past drove NASCAR 1999, 2003 and 2004. Race07,GTR2, Sprint Cars and a few more so sim racing isn't new to me or the transition from real car to sim car. Thanks for all you replies...
J.A.R.V.I.S. 282 Report post Posted January 25, 2014 You gonna be doing oval or road? Or both? >Cheers!< J.A.R.V.I.S.
CaTaPulT 658 Report post Posted January 25, 2014 Good Luck with both your PC and your new found adventure in sim racing DeadEye. May iRacing be kind to you. Take care Regards: >>>> Jack <<<<
DeadEye 31 Report post Posted January 25, 2014 Hey J.A.R.V.I.S and CaTaPult - I will start out in oval and try road but my eyes may prevent me from doing so. I lost 80% of my sight last May (2013). I had 2 eye strokes which has been a bummer but on ovals I can see well enough to compete. I did mainly ovals in the real world (30 years). Road courses on the other hand are hard for me to see the breaking points. I'll test the waters to see. No night races at all where you have to rely on the headlights to see. Thanks for your replies! CFD-3-Captain 33 Report post Posted January 26, 2014 Welcome to the community and SimRacing! You are going to LOVE iRacing! I can't believe I have waited so long to start racing. I was into rFactor about 8 years ago and when I was "kid" I had the first Nascar Racing by Papyrus (I think it was the first one) but nothing compares to iRacing in my eyes. Such fun and the racing is next to none.
J.A.R.V.I.S. 282 Report post Posted January 26, 2014 That's sad to hear but I can tell you that oval racing is so much fun! Just don't forget to practice a lot before the races! >Cheers!< J.A.R.V.I.S.

DeadEye 31 Report post Posted January 26, 2014 Hey guys, I have tried various NASCAR games along with Race 07, F1 etc (maybe 10,000 laps minimum) but by watching a lot of vids on YouTube iRacing will take a little time to adjust too. I love to practice so I'll be doing that and even some ghost driving on road courses. That way I will see if I can race against others without causing a wreck. I do know that night races will be out as using just the headlights is like trying to see in the dark on a moonless night with just your eyes. If the track is lit up then I can… You guys are a good group and I feel at home here. Thanks again to all of you that posted….
J.A.R.V.I.S. 282 Report post Posted January 26, 2014 Just be aware that Rookies can be pretty annoying. Have you watched these: Part 1: Part 2: Part 3: Probably the best videos in the community for this topic... >Cheers!< J.A.R.V.I.S.
DeadEye 31 Report post Posted January 27, 2014 Geez J.A.E.V.I.S. That takes me back to a real experience I had… My first time in a sprint car and I and to start in the back. On the first lap going into turn 3 on dirt mind you cars ahead of me got together and one was flipping wildly and you guessed it I was watching the flipping and not what was ahead of me and I ran into a car sideways and took the nose off his car and mine. He was very unhappy and so was my car owner. From that point on I always looked far ahead of me and even then I had my fair share of incidents, These video's will make me be very careful my first race or better yet until I get out of rookie… I'll keep you all posted good or bad... Be aware... Those videos are medium rate Some of the Split 1 races are actually RELATIVELY clean but most of the races are just bang on killing. USA Speedway is terrifying compared to Charlotte in the Rookie series... People spinning right in the middle of turns... >Cheers!< J.A.R.V.I.S.
