Kid26jr 0 Report post Posted December 11, 2013 I am new to the sim racing world. I am a dirt track fan so I bought rfactor and have been playing it with the keyboard. I am wanting to get a good steering wheel and petal set but am kinda on a budget. Also I would like to do some online racing but my computer will barely handle single player. What are some things I could to to make my computer better. I'm running windows xp and have a intel pintiam 4 processor
APEKS 159 Report post Posted December 11, 2013 We would need more computer spec to help, but based on what you give here I would say buy a new computer. The very minimum for me would be to upgrade to windows 7 because windows xp is not longer supported by Microsoft. As for the wheel G27 is your best bet but if that's to expensive go for the Logitech DFGT.
DjFIL 180 Report post Posted December 11, 2013 As TheBrit said... get away from Windows XP as soon as you can. Support actually ends April 2014... and that means no more security updates from Microsoft. And that means XP could become a virus makers heaven... as any major exploits and vulnerabilities found in XP after that date, will never be patched. You mention a Pentium 4 processor, and unfortunately that's extremely old. The motherboard that it's connected to will likely not support a chip that is much newer, so you are honestly looking at building or buying a new PC. What's your budget and what country are you located in? Maybe we can help find something that would work for you.
