haha...

mods are the same as rfactor.

No, mods may "appear" to be the same but they have to be converted (physics wise). As Renato explained several times (even at iRacing forums), their version of ISIMotor2 is more "advanced", "newer", there are enough differences (code wise and in dll content) to make GSC (v1 all the way through 2012 and 2013) a "bit different" from rFactor. Any modder willing to port his/her mod must take this into consideration.

I did.

Regarding installation of mods:

there are some differences. At least up until GSC2012 (I'm told the 2013 version is similar in this respect), GSC has a set number of classes "sealed" within the exe (classes, rfm's, etc), you must use one of the existing classes in order for a mod to work. Modders aggregate existing classes and categories with their own tokens(strings in order for the game engine to "see" their mods.

Another thing:

you have to follow a series of steps related to decryption (some mods for rFactor use ISI encryption for some gmt files; you have to decrypt these) and encryption (to GSC format).

Other than that, business as usual, if you know what you're doing.

Bottom line:

-some rF mods have been "ported" to GSC, a lot of tracks have also been "ported". Changes in the game engine require some adaptation.

-a track you copy from rF will not work with GSC unless you follow the proper procedures

-a mod you copy from rF will not work with GSC unless you follow the proper procedures

Should the OP follow the same train of thought others have, he might just try rF mods in GSC, which is not surprising considering how "some" talk about GSC as a "rfactor mod" (which it is not). Just pointing out some of the things "newbies" to GSC don't know and might find handy. :-P

Plus, should he encounter some problems with mods, he now has a headstart for figuring it out.

Cheers, m8. :)

Apologies guys, I have been flat out building our new website, But, revisiting this thread I should have been clearer.

We run a 3 Tier membership system. The higher the Tier the more (and better) content you can access...

A lot of the content we have we convert ourselves. A lot of what we have is just not available anywhere else.

Head over now, sign up guys, chat with us in the forums and we will get you guys hooked up!
