The_Lone_Deranger 3 Report post Posted December 7, 2013 Hey guys, I bought and downloaded gsc2013 today. I downloaded all 3 files and the setup one, which at about 200KB/second was an absolute nightmare! A 10 hour long nightmare! I've put all 4 files in their own folder and when I click on the setup one and try to run the setup wizard, when I click 'install' I get an error message saying the "source file is corrupted" and to try again later. No reason why or what to do about it. Good lord!!! WTF, I've used the download links THEY sent me. I've messaged them, with no response, and after reading other peoples experiences I doubt they ever will. I've only just made the move from consoles to pc sim racing. My only experience is with iRacing and it's been a breeze, no dramas at all. But this is just shockingly crap, yet everyone gives this sim rave reviews and I can't even install the bloody thing. I have no idea what's gone wrong or how to fix it with my limited pc knowledge. But that's why I joined this forum. I just want to install the sim I've paid for and get on the track against some decent AI. If anyone could help me sort this out I'd be forever grateful. Cheers. Ricky Davies 326 Report post Posted December 7, 2013 It's a common issue when downloading the files, any pause or stop in downloading can cause this i had the same issue. ALSO!. Compare the files to mine yet again these file are from the links above. Hope this helps CHEERS!
The_Lone_Deranger 3 Report post Posted December 7, 2013 Hey Rick, thanks so much for the quick reply. Yes I did pause the download... that must be what corrupted them. I tried using the links you provided but it says; the file's no longer available: the url is incorrect or the user deleted the files... So you're basically saying that i'll have to delete the files I've already downloaded and start again from scratch, re-downloading the links from the email that reiza sent me without pausing this time? PLEASE don't tell me it's true? What an absolute nightmare... money well spent.
The_Lone_Deranger 3 Report post Posted December 7, 2013 Checked my file sizes (I can't seem to copy and paste it like you did) Setup1.bin 1,716,787kb Setup2.bin 1,835,938kb Setup3.bin 1,662,783kb Oh god, i'll have to re-download them, right? Is it even worth the hassle, or should I just opt for a refund? I'm looking for a realistic sim with some decent AI to race against for some quick races, to mix it up a bit from using iRacing all the time. Once GSC downloads and installs properly how easy is it to use or do the hassles continue? Thanks again for your help mate, greatly appreciated!
CaTaPulT 658 Report post Posted December 7, 2013 Maybe just try re-downloading the setup.exe file and see if that works, if it's the installer that's the only file corrupted, then it should be a quick download. Good luck. Take care Regards: >>>> Jack <<<<

Ricky Davies 326 Report post Posted December 7, 2013 Yep you need to re download them, but it's worth it trust me!. It took me 2 attempts due to bad internet and i paused it. and seeing as you paused your downloads it seems that that was the problem. re download the files it's worth waiting for by awhile. ...also sorry the links don't work I'll remove them. But once you have it installed the only thing you need to do is run the new GSCSync program that updates the game for you. CHEERS!
El Caco 3 Report post Posted December 7, 2013 Use a download manager. If you don't want to pay for a download manager I'm sure you can find a decent free one, there was a Firefox plugin that I used years ago before I switched to chrome. I haven't required one for a long time but it sounds like a download manager is a must for GSC2013. With a decent download manager you should be able to pause or interrupt the download without getting corrupt files. Unfortunately it looks like all the files you downloaded are corrupt. I believe the firefox extension I used in the past was called DownThemAll
The_Lone_Deranger 3 Report post Posted December 7, 2013 Thanks heaps for the help everyone. I've decided to have another crack at it, as I hear a lot of people saying it's the best sim out right now. It's a harsh lesson for a pc newbie to learn: never pause a download, never ever ever.....ever. I've definitely learnt my lesson, this will be an entire weekend blown ENTIRELY on downloading something. Didn't see it coming lol. Even my mobile phone downloads in MB/second, and my flash new gaming pc downloads GSC at about 50-200KB/second. It's quite a shock to me tbh. Why is it such a mega slow download? Are all downloaded games like this? Also, while I'm here, Where do I find this gsync program to do the updates for me? Is that as big of an ordeal as downloading and installing? lol Well I'd better get to it, if I start at 9:30AM I should hopefully be done by 9:30PM... FFS that's mind boggling stuff, have to stop thinking about it and just do it I suppose. Cheers guys, wish me luck!
El Caco 3 Report post Posted December 8, 2013 You can pause downloads with a download manager. My best advice would be to install firefox with the DownThemAll extension and from this day on whenever you are downloading a big or slow file use this. You may also be able to download quicker with a manager as it will attempt to make multiple connections at the same time. If it is network limited on the server side this will not help. It isn't always like this on PC but yes some software downloads from small developers can be like this. It is getting rarer. Services like Steam make this a thing of the past. Steam is a great gaming platform with it's own built in download manager and you will not run into this kind of issue when downloading games from Steam as it is more like a console experience. Unfortunately GSC is not available on Steam, it's a shame because I think GSC could really benefit from being on Steam.
Clubber_Lang 10 Report post Posted December 8, 2013 Don't feel alone man.....it took me three full tries to get the three "non-corrupted" files I needed. But in the end.....it was worth every hassle! OH.....and I don't want to bum you out even further.....but "Installing" the game can kind of be a pain as well! Just make sure ALL the correct files are in the exact same folder and on the SAME hard drive when you go to install.....otherwise the exe file can't find them. Enjoy the sim man.......it's extremely addicting and worth 10X more than what they charge for it!
Ricky Davies 326 Report post Posted December 8, 2013 GSYNC is for game updates such as bug fixes and other updates, also as Reiza has just announced they will be releasing new content every month expect to use GSYNC to install all the goodies for you. Heres the link to Reiza official info page with Gsync download, might be useful to a few others as well: http://www.racedepartment.com/forum/threads/gsc2013-v1-10-official-release-thread.78015/#post-1578381 CHEERS! The_Lone_Deranger 3 Report post Posted December 8, 2013 Thanks for the link Rick! I've just finished downloading, and now have a new problem.... I've put all 3 files and the setup.exe into one new folder located in the desktop category, but the setup wizard is saying to "insert disk one" and shows the exact place where I put everything as the location, something like; c:/user/desktop and what a named the folder. When I click ok it says it can't find it there. But it's definitely all there! The folder I agreed to allow the setup wizard to create is also on the c:/ I can only assume I've made some sort of 'noob' mistake again? Sorry to be such a right pain in the arse with all of this! But I have no idea what to do now...
Ricky Davies 326 Report post Posted December 8, 2013 Keep all files in a folder on your desktop and run the setup i didn't move any folder, it will create a new GSC13 folder in you c drive by its self. So keep the folder on the desktop with all 3 files and the setup run it. CHEERS!
The_Lone_Deranger 3 Report post Posted December 8, 2013 :grin:Wow, it's Finally successfully installed! I've downloaded the gsync.rar file. But how do I get it to update the game? In the link he says to extract it to the gsc2013 folder. I don't know how to do that?? Sorry fellas, I must be a dumb c_nt lol.
Ricky Davies 326 Report post Posted December 8, 2013 Not dumb at all, it's all new so don't worry. you should have 2 files with Gsync.exe and a Gysnc.ini. Place both files in your GSC13 route folder this will be the folder in your Local disk:C. Once the .ini is in the the GSC13 route folder run the Gysnc.exe and follow the on screen instructions . If you don't have any software to open zipped content download this: http://www.fileparade.com/listing/122596/WinRAR?gclid=CMXEiKP4oLsCFRSWtAoduWcAqg and if you notice big file sizes its normal CHEERS! The_Lone_Deranger 3 Report post Posted December 8, 2013 Rick mate, I can't thankyou enough! Seriously... If it weren't for you I'd have given up. Got it all sorted, it's currently in the process of syncing. It's a 6.888GB download with 6 hours 30 minutes time remaining ...and rising! :eek:WOW what a weekend! I did have a test of the game before I tried the gsync stuff, seems ok I guess (only did a few laps at Interlagos). The ffb felt really off though.. I'm using a g27 & I've changed the degrees of rotation to 540 in the profiler as that's what Reiza recommends and I've left everything else the same as I use for iRacing (in Logitech profiler). What settings do I need to tweak in-game? I couldn't really find where the in-game degrees of rotation was. The menus are quite different. Very 'old school' and worded differently. This game's doing my head in tbh, if I could go back, I'd have spent the money on some cars and tracks for iRacing. Hopefully this thread will give people some insight into what they're buying into. Once again, thanks so much Rick!
Ricky Davies 326 Report post Posted December 8, 2013 No worries happy to help any other problems i'm here . For your rotation try these settings.. also in the control section i have my FFB effects maxed out. Copy&pasted from another thread. V8 and Formula cars: 540° (set in the Logitech software), steering lock around 22 (in game setting "garage1", right column)Camaro (for the Mini and Opala too, I guess): 900°, steering lock 33Kart: 180-200°, default steering lock It's a great sim just getting it all right is the annoying part but it you will have fun CHEERS! The_Lone_Deranger 3 Report post Posted December 9, 2013 Good news my sim racing Brethren, The ordeal is over! I've been testing and tweaking settings... It's still got quite a large dead zone on the g27 (compared to iRacing) & there's some slight stretching on the side monitors of my triple screen setup... But it truly is an addictive Sim, as it is, without any mods. The AI is the best feature for me, I've had some incredible races, FAR better than any of the ones I've had on iRacing so far. It's got a huge 'fun factor' about it. I just wanted to thank everyone who has commented and tried to help me, I'm extremely grateful. If it wasn't for this forum I would have given up and missed out on the hours of fun I'm going to have with this game. Thankyou all!

I just downloaded 8 new tracks for the sim. I actually downloaded one first ( Bryce canyon )......and WOW!! Extremely cool! I went and then DL the other 7 available tracks but haven't installed them yet. I guess the " Nordshleife " track is supposed to be pretty awesome. I'm on the hunt for more tracks now.....since Bryce canyon was incredible I thought.
The_Lone_Deranger 3 Report post Posted December 14, 2013 Thankyou sir, it certainly is a relief lol. Sorry to be a pain in the arse, but speaking of tracks... I've just noticed the thread titled "Large list of tracks for gsc2013" is that where you've got your tracks from?. There's a TON of awesome tracks in there I would LOVE to have. Just wanting to know what the process is that you use to get them in the game?? I'm thinking, once I've downloaded the tracks I want; do I then just copy and paste into the main gsc2013 folder? Or do I have to copy and paste into the locations folder within the main gsc2013 folder? Or am I way off? lol Cheers guys!
Ricky Davies 326 Report post Posted December 14, 2013 Yes they go into your lications folderso it will be Gamdata>location. i would suggesr copy&paste the hole of your GSC13 folder so yoy have a backup if the mods break. CHEERS!
